Fastest deployment

I think that the key point is that lots of folders can be opened rapidly once they're in your hand. However, getting them there is another story. The Commander opens while being drawn, so in truth, its deployment time once it's in the hand is zero.

Military is FAST! My 710 is nearly as fast, but for total speed freeks! Its a D/A LCC for me! The act of taking it out of your pocket places the thumb at the right point for action

One factor that has come up but never really been highlighted is carry methods. When I want to be inconspicuous I carry my Sifu clipped inside my pocket. Most of the time I carry it upside-down on my belt in a Mike Sastre Concealex sheath.

I can draw downward and out, nearly a direct path to the target, and the blade will snap into place pointing straight at the target as my hand reaches the "middle guard" position. The motion is short, natural, and very fast.

During Edged Weapons Conference 2000 with Steve Tarani, we did quite a bit of folder work, including working off a timer. I became an instant Commanderaholic. I was timed at .80 seconds from my hands clasped in front of me, and starting off a buzzer. There was a large variety of folders represented, with fairly experienced knife people who all had their own favorites and prejudices. By the time this was over, nobody would question that the Commander was the fastest deploying folder available. The only thing I own faster is the Emerson ES-1M.
