Fastest Folder in Your Collection

Some knives I carry for size, others for speed. The first knives I really got into were switchblades which I'd ordered from Italy. I carried one illegally for awhile before I got into other, better, well suited knives. One of my favorite initial knives was the CRKT flippers, but then I stumbled onto stronger, much faster ones. One was the Cold Steel Recon 1 and the Cold Steel Pro-Lite (both of which opened almost without a thought). Then, when CRKT came out with its AUTOLAWKS, I found that the flippers were tougher to open—tougher on my finger, that is. Whatever they did to the mechanism, it made opening their knives a bit more difficult, and a lot slower.

So far the Recon 1 and the Pro-Lite remain my fastest, but I wondered what yours are. The Spydercos in my collection open fine, but they don't flick open in a flash. I also have a Kershaw Storm II that has a small flipper, but it's too small, and it also falls short. The CS Voyagers are quick opening, but they're far from the fastest; ditto for my Benchmades. Oddly, the fastest of all that I own is a S&W Extreme Ops aluminum. It requires no flipping at all, just a flick of the wrist. Opens and locks all by itself.

Anyway, what's your fastest?

The fastest one I own is this S&W. It opens with just a
quick flick of the wrist.

This Pro-Lite opens like greased lightning. Ditto for the
CS Recon 1.

I expected the Kershaw Storm to be fast, but it's not.
The flipper (on top) is just too small for reliability.

I have 2. My Griptilian and my CRKT M-16 (the older version without AO). I can open them faster than my Kershaw Blur.

Other than the Kershaw Blur that is assisted opening, my Spyderco FG D2 Para Military is my smoothest knife and it came from the factory like that, my Emerson Mini Commander and CQC 8 are fast but my Para is just so smooth and fast.

Mine is a Benchmade Nitrous Stryker assisted open with D2 spear point plain edge, G10 handles...FANTASTIC knife

It is an auto, but my Lone Wold Diablo D/A would be tops in speed. It has to be 4 times quicker than an Italian stiletto. I have handled it against Bokers and Benchmades, and it smoked 'em all. The fastest assisted would be my Leek. I also have a SOG Tops Meridain that moves like a slug. I would feel bad selling it to anybody on this forum. It is an ugly, slow, poorly made pile of dung- an I purchased it for full retail at Bass Pro. My least favorite knife acquisition. It is because of this knife that I dislike SOG.

Non-assisted: Benchmade 740 Lum. It can be kicked open with a flick of the wrist. Buttery goodness. The liner lock is weak, though.

My fastest folder would have to the be the Leek, nothing else I have even compares to it's speed.

I have a Brad duncan's whiplash folder with a ball bearing pivot. It opens very smooth and fast. I also have BM's axis folders which opens smooth and fast, but my other liner locking folders do the same. I think it's just a matter of how strong you open it.
