:confused:So i found the mother lode of fat wood but it really gums up any hand saw that I've tried to cut the log-12"-14"- in pieces I can take home. It's only about 50' fom the road so I was thinking about taking my chainsaw to it. My question is-What will this do to my chain/saw? Has anyone used a chainsaw on a large fatwood log? Thanx--KV

I cut a big stump down a few weeks ago with a chainsaw. The saw cut pretty good after that. I think one or two will be fine. If you cut them all the time, it would gum up the chain saw pretty bad too. I really didn't notice and difference after just the one though.

BTW, save the sawdust from your cut in a ziplock bag. Good stuff!;)

If you don't hit the dirt or rocks it should be fine, the oil lubes the chain and helps keep the sap or pitch or fat from sticking to the chain. Pat
