Father and Son Hunter Set for a pig hunt results pics added

Great pics

I have been using a suppressed bolt action 308 for a lot of hunting. Lots a FUN :)

Hogs are mostly nocturnal. They do come out in the day but are actually more difficult to stalk. We hunted for 2days and nights before the final hunt. Saw lots of sign but no hair, at least none attached to a pig.

Gawd dang, you sure packed some firepower! Glad to see those knives rounded out the arsenal with style. I would just tape a flashlight onto the bottom of my 30/30 to do my night hunting in Kona. Of course the local boys just used knives and dogs! I'm not talking pick stickers either, just little folders to slit the jugular. Talk about WILD times! Looks like y'all had lots of fun. So what's next, smoked meat? Sausage? BBQ?

Great pics and great memories! Glad to hear those beautiful blades did their work. Skinning out a big hog is no easy feat ...

A 30cal suppressor is on the top of the wish list.(shhhh don't tell the wife;):D ) Have 3 .308's and really want to give it a try. I can also use it on the 5.56 guns I have so it will be pretty universal. It will save tons of $$ for the tax stamps. Not to mention the cans themselves.

Let me get this straight . . . Hunting at night? M16's? Silencers??? NIGHT VISSION!?!?!? Its like a real life awsome video game!!! Could call it COD BLACK HOGS!!!!! lol Man here in canada any 1 of those 4 things would land me in jail . . . I wonder what it would cost me to come down there and hunt? Would be a blast!!! I prefer archery myself but big guns are always fun :)

You are correct I screw mine on my M 4 and even though they are more effective when they are caliber specific it works just fine :)

Yes it was an absolute blast, figuratively and literally. If you google "the dehoginator" you will find his information. I don't want to give you a quote for him but the numbers I found were VERY reasonable. I did not pay for this trip My good friend The Red Goat did so I do not know what was paid to the guide. The guide provides all your equipment though he does not use suppressors but does use NV and Thermals. He also has a trailer blind and can set you up for a bow hunt if you like. I am already planning my next trip. I plan to take a few days extra, drive down and take my own gear. Then I won't have any excuses for missing.
I also plan on trying a bow hunt. But I will put some meat in the cooler with a gun first.:pig::pig::pig:

Phil, I plan to make sausage from the majority of the meat. The backstrap and tenderloin I will try in whole form. Just need to find a good recipe.

Yup, the wheels are turning and the $$ is being saved. Found a few cans that I am interested in. Now I just need to narrow it down and drop the cash. Then I need to find a flattop ar10 upper, some type of glass, a good NV scope and I will be good to go. I probably won't do themals, just not ready to drop that kind of $$.

Looks like waaaaay too much fun! We can hunt using a suppressor in Kansas now but still no night hunting.....hopefully soon, at least for varmints. Yeah, not too much more fun can be had with clothes on than silencers and night vision! I've been having a ball with the .300 Blackout round, sub-sonic and supressed, through an AR with a PVS-14 behind an Aimpoint Micro T-1.......have an AN/PVS-22 on the way. ;)

Thanks for the great pictures and narrative!

Yea in Texas they can hunt hog with any weapon any method and any time. No limit on animals. Just need a basic hunting license and your ready to go. They really want to eradicate them but I think it is a losing battle. But I will help as much a possible. Here in Oregon too if I can find the pigs.

Yea, I am leaning towards aac. Seems to be quality at a reasonable price. Well as reasonable as cans get.

I prefer welded cans vs take down cans

I believe a welded can is more durable and easier to maintain

They suggest soaking in carbon cutter every 10,000 rds

No dismantling

Yea I think that's the best also. I was speaking with the gemtech rep and they will rebuild one if it wore out. But were talking 10's of thousands of rounds before that happens. Now I just need to set up a trust and save some $$$$
