fathers day... C. Platts

I, for one, really like the big spey. It is a great shape for cutting fruit and veggies (by that I mean, great shape for not poking your hand when dicing and slicing fruit and veggies). That rounded tip allows quicker food prep than I can do with the needle point on my clip points.

Of course, I also like a jack or barlow with a smaller secondary blade too, so I am not too picky.

I think the Platts is a great looking knife, but Oh man do I like the look of your Grandads knife- I just loves the look of that knife - just wow! - thanks for showing us Gene

Hi Guys.
I just bought the very same C. Platt's trapper as the OP.
It is my kind of knife, but my first Case, & I have a question.
The tang of the spey is marked "SS", which I assume means stainless steel. What kind of steel is this?
I had thought the CV steel people talk about was stainless, because of the chrome, but the included note from Case infers that CV is not stainless.

I like the trapper with 2 blades. I keep the spey for food prep, & the clip for everything else. The bone on tthis one is the most attractive I have seen, & it goes well with the brass pins.

Congrats!
Picts or it didnt hapen:D

Gene

PS had a moment where i was checking traditionals and had to pause, "did i start a thread?, dont remember starting one?"... had a few beers maybe thats it, then noticed the date:D
