Picked up the 20" WWII-ish thing today, it is quite a blade. Definitely not the usual WWII. Excellent fit and finish, it is a knife like you would usually get from the HI store, not a blem in any way. Nice and sharp from the box.
As someone said in another thread, Bura seems to be blending the styles together. This WWII-ish has a bit of a forward curve in the handle and spine rather than pure straight of a WWII. The forward part of the blade is somewhat deeper (taller?) than usual, reminds me of a cleaver or GRS. Last but not least, the blade has a slight fuller from spine to start of bevel. It is very slight and since the blade is deeper than usual, this may not be intentional, but it looks nice.
This is my first U.B. marked blade, and it is obviously very special. With my new job it also may be my last sharking opportunity besides the weekends, so I will enjoy what I can get. Thanks Yangdu and crew!!
Edit: forgot to mention is has an excellent wood handle with very defined grain, it should look fantastic with after some Walosification. I think Dan Koster may have been giving Bura lessons since the handle points are already nicely rounded.
