While this might give a little more flexibility for the lanyard, the new owner should take care that it doesn't slip into the handle as that was helping to keep the lanyard under control and preventing it from moving into/near the blade.

Gary, that’s a picture from you of the knife in your hand that I reused, because most of my pictures had several other knives in the image and I was too lazy to take more 😅 It may have been one that you took before you installed the whipping knot?

I have a tiny scar at the base of my index finger from when I stabbed it with that Tops Street Scalpel, and I don’t see that scar in the picture. It is funny that we have similar lines on our hands that you’d think it was me. That suggests we’re brothers of different mothers.
