Fathers Day Present-Which Knife?

A few years back I gave Dad a Case Sodbuster Jr.
That's the one I'd go with. The Soddie is a time-proven design and the price will not break the bank.
The AG Russell Featherweight is also recommended.

For your dad? My uncle and dad both dig benchmade tantos, bm mini or reg griptillian? They also dig my spyderco native. I'd look at those.

Within your budget he will most probably love this quality knife "with soul": the Eka 88 Masur. Scandinavian flair and very practical. Really an insider's tip.

I'd recommend the Kershaw OD-1 or the Kershaw Skyline. The OD-1 is $40 and the Skyline is $35. Both offer more value than their price suggest and should, IMHO, cost more. They are both made in the USA but sold in WalMart.

Features:
OD-1 -
  • non-assisted opening,
  • flipper mechanism that tucks away into the handle for a clean profile
  • framelock w/ lock bar stabilizer (aka Hinderer)
  • G-10 scale
  • 14C28N steel
  • phosphor bronze bushings for smooth and fast opening

Skyline -
  • non-assisted opening
  • flipper, liker lock
  • G-10 scales
  • lightweight @ 2.3oz.
  • 14C28N steel
  • phosphor bronze bushings

I have them and I love them both. They open smooth and fast with solid lockup. Both are around 3" blade lengths with multiple clip locations. Both are high-value knives, especially the OD-1.

When my dad retired my brother and I got him a metal handled buck that we had engraved. Whatever you get personalize it with some type of engraving for that SPECIAL effect. He'll just love it.
