1. Should I buy my Dad a ZT 0562 for Fathers Day?

He's a VERY regular knife user for things like cutting cardboard, opening packages, etc. So function is most important. I'm considering the 0562 as it has G10 handles, and I think the ZT flipper is a really neat attribute. It will be his highest $ knife, currently his nicest knife is a Leatherman Ti- Charge I got him for Christmas, which he EDC's.

2. Does anyone make a production sheath for ZT?
He always carries everything on a belt in a sheath, (leatherman, flashlight, etc.) so I need to make sure whatever I buy him also has a sheath.

Thanks!

As long as your willing to spend the what the 0562 costs/believes he'll appreciate it and its more modern/Hinderer design, then by all means. It is a spectacular knife that many love for great reasons. There are custom sheath makes here on the forum that you can look up in the exchange that coukd make one for you under "custom shop services offered"

Many knife aficionados would love the 0562, take look at traditional knives as well though, some beauty's that your dad might appreciate for their "old timers" take. One last suggestion, I bought my dad a good ol buck 110 a few years back for fathers day and got myself one (was replacing both of ours which we had lost years ago) as a sort of matching set. Pops really liked that. Any who, can't go wrong with the 562!

Thank you!

ZT 0450 is pretty classic looking to me
I agree, the only reason I sway from it is the handles, he is 60 yrs old and practical, I think he would like the G10...if not G10 then wood.

Zt makes a sheath, there is a black and green one for sale on Blade HQ

Thank you!

Sorry I didn't check back in till just now. If you're shooting for classic (I may be wrong but understand classic for traditional) then look a Great Eastern Cutlery or Northwoods, both have great offerings.

If it's more modern but less "tactical" (I suppose is the right way of putting it) then the zt is a good choice. I would also suggest looking at something like the spyderco stretch 2. Let us know what you end up getting!
