  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

fatwood problem

Speaking of fatwood, have any of you guys seen the wiki entry? It looks like hell. Parts of it read like an excited boyscout's editorial in Boy's Life. Any of you more eloquent gents care to take a whack at sprucing it up? I'd do it but frankly, I'm still a newb to the subject of fatwood. Just an idea.

Edit: No offense meant if someone from BF was a contributor to the entry. :D

Now you stop that Bushy! Stop it I said! (somebody swat him with a newspaper! :) ) I love the smell of fatwood..hey Mist..I got some killer stuff taken from virgin white pine cut in old growth forest..you wanna hook these guys real good? hit me up and I'll send ya a box from ...."down south"....shhhhhh!!!

I love this post, h#ll I didn't even know there was a Wiki on the subject.

That edit had me laughing my @$$ off for a minute or two.

It's been a while since I seen any white fatwood, I'd love to find some that's for sure. I've been looking a lot lately but no luck

theres a place near my house that chips cedar and pine and loads it up on barges 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. sometimes i like to sit out front and just smell pine and cedar all day :D

I think I might go fatwood an tinder fungus hunting this weekend. I'll take pics!

Down here we call it fat lighter, but it's the same stuff. I bet TSA would arrest you as a terrorist it you took it on a plane!

If I whipped out ANY knife at a coffee shop here in California, they would have my knife and I would have some type of legal issue for certain. You're lucky in that respect.

I wonder whether I could sell fatwood scented perfume to ladies who are trying to snag mountain man types?;) Perhaps mix it with Hoppe's #9?

YES! fatwood with Hoppes #9, maybe a little soot, BBQ smoke, cigars and leather.

That'd get my attention, although I have to be honest here, and point out that almost any woman with a pulse gets my attention nowadays. Pine and Hoppe's #9 are just a bonus.

Just started a new thread about my first ever experience with fatwood (no Hoppe's #9, though). "It's called Fantastic Fatwood Fun." Check it out, fam.

Okay, I'm hanging a piece of fatwood from my rearview mirror now. The fatwood freshner!

I have cedar clothing cabinets in my bedroom and guest room that smell almost as good as fatwood. I always enjoy hauling wool garments out of them. I wonder if fatwood would also deter moths?

It might deter moths, but it will attract Bushman5 and a few other WS&S types... :D
