I want to make a wa handle out of blackwood with an ivory-like spacer. Is there any ivory substitute that won't get stained during the sanding and fishing process?

IMG_20170623_155347.jpg I just used some faux ivory from masecraft on a knife. It sanded and finished easily. Didn't seem to take a stain.

It's not really faux Ivory, but I've used bone for that in the past. White paper micarta could be another option
I've heard good things about the macecraft product kuraki mentioned, but I haven't tried it yet myself

I'd use a Micarta type material or the stuff from Masecraft.

I've used the Corian blocks of kitchen counter top that Home Depot usually has for customer samples...Shhhhhhh just sayin:cool::cool::cool:

I've even cut it down and turned it for Saya pins.

I also really liked the masecraft alternative ivory.

Here is the stuff from masecraft paired with some bog oak

That's Corian. I've got some of that just haven't used it yet.
They sell their Corian in a bone color but I thought their artificial ivory was something that used to be used in the medical industry. They used to have a description but it appears that their site has changed.

They may have multiple products. I just remember buying some "new Ivory" and "old Ivory" from them that's Corian.
