Favor for a homesick buddy

"12 inch AK"

You won't regret getting one Ben, it's a very handy khukuri. It ain't a wood chopper/brush clearer like it's big brothers, but it will, by golly, cut kindling, and it really shines as an "around the house/camp" khukuri. Yard, garden, kitchen, et cetera, you can wear the little booger comfortably all day long, and it'll handle just about anything you can throw at it. Little khukuri, big heart, if you get one and don't love it, then I'm just a silly knucklehead who don't know a thing about knives.;)

edited to add: Pappy, it ain't as boring here for me as it is for folks that were raised in the city, country boys are more adept at finding ways to pass the time. Still, it is mighty hot and dry, cold beers down at the Dog and Duck sound like something right out of a fairy tale about now.:D

Shirley, open space is one thing they've got plenty of here. No wonder their tents are so huge.

Well Sarge, I put the 12" down as the only thing I need for Father's Day. I wonder if they make them with wood handles. I just seem to have an afinity for nicely worked wood...like that sign you made. Great job and done all by hand. I can appreciate that. You know, I don't regret giving my 18" AK to one of the troops, but I do miss it now and then. Happy Armed Forces Day...please tell everyone thanks.

Sarge:

Comments by you and Pappy prompted me to get a 12" AK recently, and I used mine this week to plant 54 cherry trees in the back yard. It is a very handy piece of gear and very quickly resharpened to shave arm hair even after all that contact with the dirt.

One question about the sign though: Did you bore the hole for that peg with khuk, karda or auger bit? My partners and I are planning to build some "rustic" furniture out in the woods among the raw materials and can do all the draw knifing, cutting and tenon shaving with khuks. Don't know about the holes though.

Cliff, I used the karda as an awl to bore the holes for the pegs, but that's probably not your best bet for rustic furniture. A brace and bit sounds like what you need.

Glad you like your little AK, they're real good "around the house" khuks.:D
