i just wanted to know what your favorite foods to eat in the bush are
mine are pancakes/fried fish/ pine nettle tea
 
Out yesterday on a hike and had a couple of smoked bacon sandwiches. Tasted so good.

The smell of bacon cooking in the outdoors is unbeatable.

I agree...while it may not be the healthiest of meals before a long hike...there is nothing like coming alive on a morning in the woods to the smell of bacon and eggs frying over an open fire and coffee brewing.
 
When camping in the northern parts of Europe, I eat lapskaus a lot.

Pine needle tea is also great. This is the way I usually make it:

Car camping - Camp/Dutch oven slow cooked pork leg + roast potato,sour cream,bacon and cheese, topped with sweet chilli sauce. Taste's so good i'm back for thirds with that one :D

Dessert - Plum pudding with vanilla custard :thumbup:

Short hikes - Chicken & mayo sandwich, jerky and a snickers :thumbup:
 
For car camping, I like anything meaty and on the grill. We used to eat real good when my wife and I would go camping together. She would make carne asada with camp made guacamole. Cooking was a big event at camp.

For backpacking, I uaually crave salty things like soups.
 
I like to bring a large stick of dried pepperoni, a block of old cheddar, and a bag of Triscut crackers. It makes an easy lunch when I'm on the trail, and there's no cooking required.

My staple dinner for extended fishing trips is garlic trout fillets with fresh leeks, diced potatoes, and pepper. Yum.

For breakfast, I go for oatmeal with a handful of trail mix thrown in, enjoyed with a very large mug of dark roast coffee.

Went backpacking weekend before last and tried something.

Made up a bannock mix with white and spelt flour.

Then rolled them out flat on an Orikaso bowl unfolded.

Then laid pepperoni and mozzarella cheese on them and rolled them up.

Then we built a big fire on one side of the fire ring and on the other we set the rolls inside a covered 8qt pot and sat that on a flat stone that was up against the other side of the fire ring.

Made some dynamite pepperoni rolls:thumbup:
 
Home made beef jerky...salt and pepper with a little garlic. And a nice semi-cold beer to wash it down. Wait...is beer considered food?
 
Beer is actually considered a food group.

The only place I eat them is on the trail or camping...I'm not sure why but the local game processor sells Pepperoni sticks...I love em.
 
pepperoni sticks, naan bread (given time to toast on the fire) and my most favorite would be spolumbos sausage on pita buns and a can of chili cooked on the fire
 
In the past it was dried sausage and hard cheese, Recently My favorite food for the trail has been... Nope, it still is sausage and cheese.
 
Cans of campbell's soup-specifically chicken and dumplings, potato chunks and bacon bits, and chunky beef stew. Bananas for potassium, for my legs and back muscles after a long day of hiking. Burritos or brats wrapped in tin foil, just throw them on the fire for 10 minutes, rotate once and eat. no cleanup required. Summer sausage, tastes good and lasts forever. Megamen's supplements for vitamins, to keep the preventable diseases away. Lastly, some Senseo coffee packets that steep just like tea, and some Canadian Mist whiskey in a 375 plastic hip flask to spike it :)
