favorite 2 blades

Since becoming interested in traditional folders recently I have noticed that I try to find knives with 2 blades that compliment each other both aesthetically and functionally. So far my favorite combination is the wharncliffe/clip. I was curious if anyone else looks for certain blade style pairings in a knife?

Spear main with a coping secondary is the ideal to me... My 92 Eureka Jack is a perfect example.

Another vote for the GEC #92 Eureka Jack - except mine is in Ebony.

Spear main blade with a coping secondary is a versatile combination. Granted I do wonder what a Clip main blade on the Eureka Jack would be like :)

One of my favorite 2-blade knives is the Case Medium Jack, but I wish the secondary was a coping or wharnecliffe. A Clip main blade backed by a spear secondary seems redundant in some ways.

My favorite pairing is the california clip and sheepsfoot. Its mostly found in a stockman format but you can occasionally find it in a jack pattern which I prefer.

This is my favorite blade combo also. I've been carrying this Case/Bose Wharncliffe Trapper almost everyday since I got it last November. It comes closest to being my perfect knife.

I prefer a clip with a sheepfoot, and just reground the spey blade into a sheepfoot on this Northfield #73 Scout trapper to get this combo.

Clip and coping, or clip and Wharncliffe come close, and I do carry those combos as well, but I like the stoutness of the sheepfoot best for a secondary blade.

I like a clip anad spey combination such as the configuragion on this Case Panama Trapper.

Ditto this. I like a curved-edge / straight-edge combination. I have the below knife with its spear and sheepfoot blades. It gives lots of cutting options. I also like my '09 Forum Knife: a Barlow with a clip and wharncliffe blade.

A Turkish clip/sheepfoot combination is tough to find, but my favorite jackknife. A nice example is the Schrade Wrangler (93OT). OH

Coming in a distant second for me is this Case 6207W with a Wharncliffe in lieu of the Sheepfoot. OH

One straight (sheepsfoot preferred), one curved (clip/drop or pen if secondary).
One main, one secondary (shorter).
That's what I have come to prefer so far

I agree with Fausto: one big and one small (I'm not a huge trapper fan), with one straight and one with some belly.

Nice mod, black mamba. I have the same 73 and would much prefer a sheepsfoot to the spey blade. You got my wheels turning.

Clip & Wharnie/Sheepsfoot/Coping (depending upon length) would be my favorite 2 blade combinations. I also like the GEC#15 Crown Lifter combo if you can call that a blade. Some secondary pens are good. I recently acquired a Case Texas Jack 00077 Amber Bone CV and have been pleased with the secondary pen on the clip & pen combination as the pen has a lower point that many pens. I would still prefer it to be a coping blade though.

Wharncliffe, clip combo has to be my favorite, after that spear and regular old pen blade. Two of my favorite knives are my Case Bose WT, and my 2012 BF Trad forum knife.

I find myself leaning toward big-n-little, no matter how it comes out. The mini-Copperhead, half-Congress, SAK pal/Patriot, etc. etc.
For much the same advantage as a Stockmen, having a blade to handle different tasks. I can't see having a spear and clip, the same length, but I am sure there's some 'tech' , or history behind it. Likewise, the muskrat patter leaves me scratching my head. Other than the fact that no matter which side you grab such a knife from, you're going to access that one, same blade, LOL.

Full sized clip for 'clean' tasks and a small sheepsfoot for 'dirty' is my ideal combo. Unfortunately it isn't all that common a combo on 2 blade traditionals so normally make do with a stockman.
