Same here. Square spine for use with a fire steel. Full enclosure of the tang for good cold weather use and grip. Great stainless steel. Exposed tang at the back for hammering. Small choil to keep your finger from slipping onto the blade. Lots to love here.

A good machete and a small utility knife can take care of a wide range of problems. If the machete isn't up to the job then you are probably in need of an axe or chainsaw.

+1 on the F1...for all of the reasons given above

Well I would have to say I am a large knife fan.So mine would be my Gossman Big Boar Tusker,My Siegle SAR 7,My custom Bowie from Chad Hill and my custom from Bruce Culberson or my Camp Blood from Jeremy Horton.I spend as much time as posible in the woods so I always have one of these on me.Close runner ups are my customs from Daniel Fairly or any of my 4 other Siegle knives.Bill makes true hard use knives!

Hello all you knife nutz! I just joined the forum, though I've been reading here for a while. It's a great sight and I've seen soooo many fab knifes. Also everyone seems to really respect others views with none of the insane flaming you see to often on other forums. My go to fixed blade (for now) Is a D-fm2 from Greg Medford of Medford knife and tool. It is one of two knives made for immediate delivery. He makes some sick blades and This is one of those knives you get and consider it a real bargain at the price. About $280 bucks. Greg's a really great guy to deal with and called me just to ask what color wrap I wanted on the knife. check out his web sight if you get a chance. I hope to get some pic's up as soon as I figure out the procedure... later

Here's mine, a Jim Stewart custom in S30V.

It's handle has a simple contour that's a slight palm swell along with a simple finger groove, an integral guard, and a rounded pommel that's easy to palm, in many ways similar to some of Bob Dozier's design.

The blade end is 4-1/2" of convex goodness, very much in the Bark River fashion; as Jim is the Bark River shop foreman, he knows a thing or two about convex edges.

In combining these features, Jim created a knife that works as well in my large hand as that well supported convex edge cuts.

Big Mike

Reminds me a little of a Dozier PGK.

Fallkniven F1.

I'm a fixed blade fan and I've bought, sold and traded a whole bunch of them

The F1 is the one knife that I've owned that truly lives up to its hype.

My favorite fixed blade is my Becker BK9. I don't think it's even possible to come closer to a "one tool option". I have however recently aquired an ontario RTAK II and Ka-Bar heavy warthog that I really haven't had a chance to try yet. I'm also super excited for the becker BK10 that's supposed to be coming back next year.

Ka-Bar heavy bowie/ ESEE Junglas.. for all of the wood processing tasks (paired with a small axe)

Also an ESEE Izula 2 for detail work/traps../ect..ect..

Opinel no 8 for food =D.. (although an izula can do quite a good job with food of course)....

Haven't wanted anything else since Pasi sent me this.
