Favorite bargain knives

I know many of you have already mentioned the Byrd line by Spyderco, but I have a particular favorite that I don't see get mentioned much: Byrd Wings.

This has a full size plain blade and a full size serrated blade! The plain blade excels at everyday tasks like opening packages, opening retail clamshell products, and peeling fruit, while the serrated blade makes quicker work of tougher cutting tasks like cord, rope and general outdoor cutting. Carries easily with a pocket clip (my usual choice) or the included belt pouch.

Not sure how it could be beat for the price! At least for my purposes...

Anything Victorinox and Opinel.

Victorinox makes the best value for money slip-joint multi-tools money can buy, in my humble opinion. Great steel for the money too - see JDavis's cut-test.

And in terms of raw cutting ability it won't get any better than an Opinel.

And of course the Ontario RAT1. Altough I hate AUS8, I find it better than 8Cr13MoV and I think it is the best one-hand opening liner-lock money can buy for 29 USD...

What!? I agree with great but they are far from cheap.

As far as great bargains you can't find much better value in a knife than the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. You can often pick them up used for ~$100, new for $150. I know a $100+ Knife is far from budget but as far as value goes you'll be extremely hard pressed to find a better value anywhere. A CPM-M4 blade, hard use capable, beautiful carbon fiber scales and polished liners, near perfect F&F, there is literally nothing on market that can compete with it in terms of performance per dollar.

Most everything has been said that I was thinking except the buck lite max. Fixed and folding versions. The thumb stud on my large came loose but no real complaints for twenty bucks.
