Favorite benchmade EDC under 4 inches?

I totally agree needless, but like I said, I already have a knife that meets my every day needs. I can afford (can I?) something that satisfies some aesthetic desires.

I've never owned a knife in S30V, but from what I hear it keeps a good edge but is brittle and not quite as tough as something like D2. 440C takes/keeps an edge fairly well, although I believe S30V ranks higher in those regards, so for the main blade, I think the ease of sharpening/edge retention is more important than with the small blade, which theoretically will see less use. Or I could be wrong. All I knows is knifes are pointee. :)

Edit:

You sure can! And I would too if I bought another Benchmade. I was sort of on a budget at the time...and by budget, I mean I put it on my Christmas list to be nice and not get a McHenry Williams :D If I was getting another Benchmade, the 720 and 941's give me special feelings :D

Well, only large Skirmish is over 4 inch, so if You looking for an EDC under 4 inch, You can choose from almost whole Benchmade line ;)

My EDC's:

Griptilian, Griptilian, Griptilian, Griptilian, Griptilian, Griptilian, or Mini Griptilian :D

710

Ares

TSEK

Pinnacle (if You can find one)

Presidio

Nimravus Cub (if You can find one) or Fixed Resistor (You didn't wrote it should be a folder ;) )

...and some 3 - 3.25 knives.

I'm not sure about THAT....I do love my M16, even if it lacks the fan boys here at bladeforums.

Relax :D I was kidding. I like CRKT knives also (for example Desert Cruiser, M1, M21, M16 series and many more) but... I honestly think they are not up to BM class, especially in terms of fit and finish. I understood this when I got my Griptilian.
I'm not devoted to any brand, but to specific knives - I like it or not regardless of brand and Grip is among my all time favourites for its price.

I'll need to play with the switchback again to see if 3.5 is too long for my EDC (I operate in a fairly restrictive--and HIGHLY LIBERAL--environment).
Ah, now see, that's one of the advantages of the Switchback: you can use the secondary blade when you don't want the stampede the sheeple. Looks like a funny-looking slipjoint, nice and non-threatening.

In my experience, the Switchback is very non-threatening, even amongst the most timid of sheeple. Folded, it looks like a big art-deco teardrop, not some Rambo-inspired tactical. Even the main blade, with it's graceful semi-Wharncliff profile, doesn't get the kind of nasty looks as a clip-point or spear-point or, god forbid, a tanto, would.

Certainly and forever Mini AFCK 814 (or 812) - if you can get them. G-10-Scales, mine has Scales form Realtree and M2-Blade.

Okay, for me it's between the grip, mini grip, switchback and 960. The latter two are so expensive, but so beautiful. I confess an old love for the switchback after encountering it almost three years ago. For some reason, however, the 960 doesn't exist in Waco stores in order that I can't try it.

Here's my dilemna. The grippy and gripmini aren't pretty. But they are immediately affordable. And they do satisfy my real "need" for a benchmade, which is an axis lock demo to see what all the fanboys have been talking about. The 960 and Switchback are quite gorgeous little knives, but maybe even a little TOO prettttty? The switchback is my clear favorite, but it's 3.5 inches, over my 3 inch self imposed EDC limit. But being that it has a tiny secondary knife, it might still be okay.

The monochrome caught my eye as i was looking through the bkcg earlier, (as an aside, i don't know whether its been mentioned before, but they sum up British knife law fairly well and clearly) and seeing as a couple of people have praise for it, i may have to get one for EDC.

The 770 Osborne in carbon fiber.

I bought one last year for my father--it's one very nice knife and has tons of class.

Good luck,
Allen.

Thanks a ton for all the info. I went out and priced some benchmades, and simply due to my financial situation, they're going to have to wait. At least now I know what I'm dealing with and am only half the benchmade n00b I was a week ago. And now that my M16 will be my soul EDC for awhile, I can give a better duty report than if its use time was split in half with a benchmade, and we can see if it is all that I think of it is, or if it is closer to what the CRKT detractors seem to believe. Of course, it performs as well as it has been, I might be fitting into a larger M16 for the new knife a month or two down the road.

Thanks again

Favorite benchmade EDC under 4 inches?

I know it's been said, but my first reaction to this was "Isn't that all of them except the skirmish?"

My favorite Benchmade EDC under 4 inches is my 805s TSEK...It's just a hair under 4 inches, but it's one tough folder.

My first vote goes to any of the Ares models. So many variations in steel/scales.

Then the large griptilian, although I'd lean toward the Cabela's D2 over the Ritter now that I notice the chipping on my Ritter...simply from cutting some soft plastic!

Then the 710.

I dislike Griptillian handles, hate the swerve into favoring powder coated aluminum handles, but... LOVE my 806D2.
