Thanks, it's been fun tracking many of those down, and I'm not done yet ;)

The knife you have in the pic though may not be the one you have in mind... The one on the pic is a 5500-81, first ever BM automatic gold. Only 50 were made around this time last year and IIRC the MSRP was $800. I've only seen 3 listed for sale since then, and all 3 sold for close to MSRP.
However, the non-auto version 525-81 is readily available. I've seen them listed @ authorized dealers for significantly less then $400. It is a nice knife though and knowing that this Gold is not limied in production numbers it can be carried and used without much guilt :)

Oh, if I made a wrong assumption about that mini-presidio and you did in fact find a 5500-81 for $400, don't waste any time and commit to the purchase. That would be one heck of a deal!

Oh sorry, yeah, I want the manual. If I could find the gold mini stryker in non-assisted form, I might pick one up too....I strongly prefer manuals, but I love the understated style of the stryker gold.

I just really like the style of most golds. I love the original gold morpho--but the normal morpho is almost so nice that it's nearly gold...what with the anodized/jeweled ti liners.

Up untill the last two it was starting to look like an endless curse of CF/hakkapella designs, Then the kulgera came out with it's drop-dead-gorgeous handle finish and I'm really diggin' the new 51-91, only from the pictures, for now. But I still have some faith left, just enought to believe that i'll find one at a good price :D

Trolling infraction goes to bearcut and Artfully Martial.

One day it will sink in.

A local dealer has one priced at 700$. I looked at it the other day, it is a pretty knife, I just couldn't see spending that much on something I wouldn't use.

Then use it!:D I used to have safe queens but then I started thinking about it and I changed my outlook. I mean I how many of us would buy a $5000 watch and not wear it? Or a buy a corvette and just leave it in the garage to show off? when I though about it like that it didn't make sense to keep all these "virgins" around. So I started popping cherries lol.

I agree with you. I like the nicer things, but to me, it's a waste to buy something and not use it. My current EDC is a Mini Presidio Gold class. When I got it I immediately re-profiled the blade. The factory edge was ~45 degrees included and dull as hell. It's whittling hair nicely now.

Mine is outstanding. Nice and smooth pivot with no slop at all. The blade isn't perfectly centered when closed, but it's close enough for me. It might be .010" or .015" off center at most. Really a good-looking knife, IMO.

i can't justify the price of them. I'd rather get one or two functional customs over a safe queen. The gold class infidel looks very nice, but the price is a little bit crazy.
