Favorite Benchmade

I miss the old Benchmade knives. The ones they came out with. AFCK, 730 Ares, Leopard, Ascent, still love the original AFO & Mini-Reflex.

The old school BMs were timeless marvels of cutlery engineering. They were the innovators along with Spyderco and CRKT. I include CRKT because they were the kings of collaboration. I think if you tallied them all up, CRKT has more collaborations behind their name than the other two combined.

My all time favorite is probably my Mini Presidio auto.
I've been carrying the KSF Stryker II a lot lately and the Ritter minigrip in orange before that.

I’m going to add something.

My comments about how poorly many BM knives fit my hand could probably make me sound anti-BM.

I’m definitely not that. My disappointment with the others is easily offset by the existence of the Griptilian, alone. I love that they’re providing hand filling handles, with .12” blade thickness. This arrangement is kind of a sweet spot, to me. It blows through cutting tasks, and is very comfortable in extended use.

When I decided to buy my brother a good knife, I got him a Griptilian.

For me it is the 940-1
Great blade in a light and pocket friendly package

I like the Bugout, 484, Ritter Grip, Mini-Stryker series, and the Adamas but, I don't own any of them.

The Benchmade products that I own are a fixed blade 162 Bushcraft, Grptilian 551 (D2 steel), and a 531. I also own a Volli that I plan to de-assist someday. I figure that I have most bases covered with the first three and, although I prefer the Bugout, 484, Ritter Griptilian, etc. over what I own, I am very happy with what I have.

What is your favorite Benchmade. What do you recommend?
Well, I have a lot of favorites.
Some of my Most carried BM’s would be Full size Ritter, 710, Mini Ritter, Loco, Crooked River, Anthem, Vector, Vallation(de-assisted) and for automatics Rukus II, AFO II, CLA & the Phaeton.
All are excellent knives.
A griptilian is a great place to start.
What size knife are you looking for?

As I always say---for me its the Presidio----both mini and full sized but mostly the bigger one-----I gravitated to the stoutness of these and its never let go.

Just bought a 908 Stryker II (black combo edge) that I'm liking a lot too.

I own Grips also---mini and full---but quickly moved on because I could never get over the cheap feel------not saying they're cheap----they were my first Benchmade's

I would say 940 is tops. Also like the 730 Ares, 804 AFCK, and I think I would like the Bugout but have not had one of those. The 940 is my favorite. Kevin

I like my 940 the best, its shape, lightness, blade and just overall goodness. That said I use my fully serrated Ascent the most. I don't typically carry it, but I've used it to cut all kinds of things around the place. Its tough and cuts really good. Really a good knife.

Benchmade makes a lot of good knives. I like and have owned several but the Crooked River is my favorite. So much so I ordered a custom that should be delivered Friday:

Everyone seems to like the Crooked River except me. Doesn't do a thing for me. Not really sure why because it is a very nice knife.

You're not alone. Doesn't do much for me either, tho I'm sure it's a good knife. I guess it reminds me too much of the prolific Buck 110, and never been a fan of clip points and Bowie styles.

913 Stryker is my favorite, I also like the 730 Ares but they are hard to find in plain edge. Mostly I think I like the spear point blades. I like the newer Stryker as well even though it isn't quite as pure of a spear point blade.
