So what is my traditional brethrens favorite blade shapes for their knives? Just curious what y'all like.

Generally I favor clips, followed by spears, then wharnies. I need a 3-blader with all three. :)

I never really thought about having a favorite blade shape, but after thinking about it, I guess my blade shape of choice would be the spear point. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

I voted spearpoint. Whether the more slender ones in SAKs or the fuller ones in a canoe or dogleg. I really like the Zulu spearpoint as well.

I generally prefer a blade shape as found on a sodbuster, but I'm not sure what it's called (normal blade?). My GEC#73 comes pretty close.... But since I didn't find that choice ,I'll go with my second favorite wich is a sheepsfoot.

Thanks heavens for a stockman!!
With a California Clip, Sheepsfoot and a Pen

But if there was only one blade, then a sheepsfoot

I like that combination too Neeman. Which maker and knife like that do you carry? The pen and sheepsfoot combo is a tough find in longer stockman.

I opted for Spear but with the proviso that it has swedge and long pull, that really sets a spear off:thumbup:

But, come to think of it, I like all those blade patterns...er...:D

voted clip but it is a tie for me between clip and spear...... can't wait for the 2010 bladeforums knife to get here...... perfection for me!

Clip is my favorite single blade. 2 blade trapper with a clip and wharncliffe takes care of almost everything I do with a pocket knife.

Okay, I have to admit that I have a bit of an identity crissis/split personality on this. I'm torn between the clip and spear.

I grew up with a scout knife/spear, and when I went in the army I had a TL-29 and a MLK knife, also spears. Then I got a Buck stockman and used the heck out it for the next couple decades. Then I got into a sak and soddies. I'd take a file to the soddies and drop the point into a sort of spear point/dropped point thing.

I still sometimes carry my sak bantam, and always have my trusty classic. Sometimes the bantam gets rotated for a Buck or Hen and Rooster half stockman, both with main clips. Of late, I've been carrying a small Buck lockblade with a sort of spear point.

I do like my number 8 spear point Opinel.

If I absolutly had to take just one, I guess I'd go with spear point.

I'll have to talk this over with myself, and we'll get back to you.:)

Clip, followed by sheepsfoot or Wharncliffe.

I voted clip for all-around functionality. Most factory clips are pretty ho hum for looks, but custom and semi-custom knives are appearing now with gorgeous swedges. Ken Erickson and many others. I have a Case/Bose Arkansas Hunter in my pocket now which has really grown on me.

I can't think of anything purtier than a nicely swedged spear point.
