I voted clip but I am fond of the Turkish and California clip as well.

Clip for me. If I get a single blade it's ging to be a clip of some sort. I like the deep clips like on a Puma.

I voted clip, but more specifically, a swedged clip. That always makes me see rainbows, butterflies, and warm puppy dogs.

So it seems that the clip is the way to go for most of us here. I have to agree a nicely executed clip point is nearly impossible to beat. Get a good fine point, nice amount of belly, good swedges and i'm a happy camper.

Okay, I have to admit that I have a bit of an identity crissis/split personality on this. I'm torn between the clip and spear.

If I absolutly had to take just one, I guess I'd go with spear point.

Ditto!

Except, If I absolutly had to take just one, I'd go with a clip. :)

Specifically somewhere between a turkish and a regular clip... I describe my favorite as the ones you'd swear were a skinner that someone clipped and lightly swedged. Almost a trailing point..

And that brings me to another close favorite, the skinner... why didn't it make the grade and get a space on the poll?

I;ve realy come to lik the spear on my congress, use it a lot, and I had always modified the spey on my trappers and moose to be a spear... So much more useful IMO.But a Clip is what I've used the most, and it is the 'main' blade, the one I go to the most on my knives that have both..

I voted Turkish clip, but any clip with the clip swedged and longer than the backbone, long smooth continuous belly and a pointy point, for me. Spear with swedges and a long pull is right there too, though.

Boy! This was a hard poll to vote on because I like so many different blade shapes. They all are useful. I voted for Wharnclif(fe) because lately I find that some of the more slender pointed versions to be useful in what I do with an EDC on a routine bases. Plus I think they look cool too (examples are Case's Tony Bose and other jacks and the desk knife).

The Tony Bose Arkansas Hunter mentioned above is simply gorgeous. And those swedged spear points that Absintheur posted above are great as well.

I EDC my 194OT quite a bit; it's my favorite Schrade pattern and my Benchmade 812S mini AFCK too. Both have long slender clip blades of one pedigree or another and I like them both. The AFCK is the heavy duty version of the Schrade 194OT.

I am recently also carrying a Fight'n Rooster Canoe pattern with the aforementioned spear blade and find it very handy as well.

I said all that so you could see how hard it was to determine what to vote on. The Wharncliff is just my latest "fad" I guess. It's all good; shouldn't really have to make a choice. :D

Even though I don't own many of them, the Warnclif is my favorite profile on a small slipjoint. Followed very closely by a sheepsfoot or spear.

I like swedged spear point blades followed by drop point blades. Lots of the clip point blades out there have odd shapes and are unattractive IMHO.

I had the same problem, but I finally came down on the clip. If I had to rank them, I'd go clip, spear, and spey, in that order.
