Favorite blade shape?

Wharncliff seems to be the best blade for
working with harder materials: cardboard,
leather, paper, plastic, wood...
I use one everyday in graphic arts.

My favorite shape, and to me, the most usable overall is the clip point, or bowie style blade as some would call it. I also like the wharncliff for it's usefulness.

I have to agree with you, a straight edged blade is ideal for so many tasks. Be it Wharncliff, sheepsfoot, lambsfoot, etc, that class takes my top pick. After that, a basic drop point or clip point is easy to find and works very well. I have to admit that the 'Razel' shape from Graham knives is growing on me really fast, too, though.

In certain specific situations, I like other blade styles, but not as much for general use. For example, recurve blades are great for some applications, but more difficult to sharpen. There are also some blades that I've just never been a fan of. . . like "tactical" tantos. They tend to be too heavy, too thick, and seriously ugly. ;-)

I've changed my opinion several times over the years, but my current favorite blade shape is probably the Sheepsfoot.
2nd favorite is the drop-point.

The only ones I really dislike are the tanto and the hawkbill.
I'm not really wild about recurves either.

Cheers,
Allen.

Drop point, as vague as that term is.
These are the knives I either had on me, or in my "most used" drawer. I consider all of them drop points...
