just wondering what your favorite blade shape is for gen out door use....the blad on my brkt mini-c is a drop point but the spine slopes forward a bit so that the pint is directly over the center of the tand which makes it halfway decent for drilling, the belly make it good for cleaning critters, and the short length gives it easy control for whittling

My favorite blade shape is Nessmuk. (What can I say?) Not because of any useful reason I can point to. Just like it.

So far the scandi blade shape of my mora knives and the wharncliff style. I found that shape has more uses for everything I encountered camping.

The blade shape of Mora knives is clip point. Scandi is the grind. What i prefer is something between wharncliff and spearpoint sometimes called leaf-shaped. The critical point is for me the tip, not too pointy and brittle, not too obtuse to drill.

dantzk.

I'm torn between a Scandi grind and a drop point. Ultimately, I think that the Scandi grind is better for the majority of bushcraft tasks, but there is something to be said about the confidence that comes with a nice big hollow ground drop point.

All the best,

A Drop point with a Scandi grind.

I like the dropped point for cleaning animals, helps keep from puncturing the entrails.
It usually has enough belly for skinning.
The point is close, if not right on the center line, which is nice for drilling.
And of course, the scandi grind is great for working with wood, is easy to sharpen, and cleans game like a champ.

good question... not easy for me. I'd say a near 50/50 split between drop point and spear point.

As above, clip would be my least favourite, with the exception of some funky looking turkish knife styles I've seen. None of which I'd add as an EDC, but some really nice looking knives all the same.

I love a basic drop or spear point on a wide, flat blade. (Most all my knives reflect this now :D) They are strong but still pointy.

Straight back scandi (like the Skookum Bush Tool) or Spear point Woodlore style.

the kind that cuts? :D

I have never been super particular but drop points, scandi blade shape are a few I like. Belly, no belly...swedge....they all serve a purpose in the big world of tools.

As many NICE folders that I own (Microtech, Lone Wolf, Zero Tolerance, etc) the most common thing in my pocket is usually....(drumroll......prepare to laugh)

A cheapie Large CRKT M-21 with a serrated edge. :D

I admit, I love the clip point. Alot of people don't but I've loved the look since I was a kid with my first Buck and am always looking for clip point folders and fixed blades.
