  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Favorite blade sound.... framelock....auto...kydex?

I love the Axis sound on the larger models.

My favorites though are a couple old schrade LB's, thier a lockback that really snaps.

I can, or others can hear them audibly open throughout most of the house i live in, not a teeny place either.

They were like that new 20 years ago, and still do it now.
I have a new spydie that is close to that loud when it snaps it mid lock into place, i love that authoritive sound.(I suspect the spydie will do the same in 20 years aswell.)

I had one of those big SEAL automatic knives.... You know, the BIG black ones... made by paragon, also manufactured by a few other companies too... I don't know all of the details.. But, they had a strong spring and made a THWAK! like a car hood slamming shut.

I haven't thought long and hard about this, and I haven't gone to take out all my knives and search for a winner-sound, but I did just take out my Vesuvius and my Delica (old one, plastic clip) and while the Vesuvius doesn't make much sound, the Delica makes QUITE a pronounced "click!" when opened! That's a pretty powerful spring!

Maybe now I'll go take a listen to some others, like a Military, Gunting, MiniGriptilian, and more, to see if any of them have a really strongly attractive sound.

One thing that comes to mind is that I used to play around with the MiniGriptilian, swinging it in an arc that cushioned the final click of opening. I got to where I could do it really quietly, sometimes even silently. It's pretty fun when you get it right.
