Favorite books on knives and knife collecting?

Knife Mecanisms, just for the fun of it. leroi price There are two volumes, I like em both but vol 1 more. However auto and assisted knives are in vol 2.

Great books, thanks for the recommendations. I put these books on my list of books that I must read and that deal with different aspects of knives. I read a lot of fiction and I advise you to read "The Gift of the Magi" at your leisure. Learn more about the book itself and the symbolism of everything that happens there on the website https://samploon.com/the-gift-of-the-magi-symbolism-what-does-magi-mean/. The title of the story "The Gift of the Magi" is a symbol of the biblical reference to the three wise men or wise men who were present at the birth of the baby Jesus so that they could pass on their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus.
Hello! Sorry to nitpick but the three Magi where not present at the birth of Jesus. Melchior, Gaspard, and Balthazar showed up in Bethlehem on january 6......

My favorites are:

The Spyderco Story

and this one...

So, B brownshoe got me intrigued with the Knife Mechanisms book, given I used to work a lot with almost every machine treating metal, except the CNC ones...
I love to know more about the knife mechanisms and looked for the book... Turned out it is very hard to find it and some how what was available -too darn expensive.
Lucky me, I found a new, second edition copy, for some normal price, and last night the book landed at home... Very happy with it,
thank you Sir for pointing it out, I'll have to do some reading for a long time...

Me neither. I work for years with medical equipment, 10 years in EU, x-rays and other stuff, 10 years here in US, in OR, robotic arms (3 generations) and lasers (7 generations), navigation systems ( 4 generations).
I absolutely love such small machineries as knives and guns, I hate that I don't have more time to fiddle with it.
The book is very good and I love the illustrations and pictures, much better and standardized that the one I've seen before. Thanks again for pointing me in this direction

Larrin Larrin has a great book, imho the best book on the science of steel for knives, "knife engineering"

Leroi Price covers the mechanical engineering behind opening, closing, staying open, staying closed and the history behind knife mechanisms. He has a lot of pictures, diagrams and some patent figures. He has lots of anecdotes about his encounters with makers and inventors and an entertaining but offbeat style.

I had a whole lot of knife books that I sold on the forum years ago. This Marbles book is the only one I really miss, not because of the current value, but because it contained information that you just cant't find online.
