Bark River's Rogue, a modern version of the traditional early "knife like Bowie's": a backup for unreliable single-shot handguns.

Favorite Bowie Knife?

Hmmmmm, production would be a Western W47 as well as C.S. Natchez Bowies. Can't beat the two customs Kris showed:thumbup:

But guys, hate to burst your bubble but the ORIGINAL BOWIE KNIFE is made in Japan by Sabre and Only measure a little over 5" It says it right there on the blade:D

This is my "use on all tasks that could break a knife" shop knife;) had it since I was a kid.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the original " original Bowie knife " was a German import 😁 still that's not a bad looking knife.

Not a favourite, but certainly a big beast of a Bowie ;)

My favorite and most carried, a gentlemen's bowie by the late, John White M.S. John was one of the finest knife makers to have ever lived, IMO.

Bark elephant ivory, hand forged and differentially heat treated 1084.

I can see why that's your favorite Kris. I was trying to think of something to say when you posted it before. I can't say what is and isn't a "real" Bowie. But, that is one of the finest looking knives I've ever seen, and you've posted many beauties here.

My favorite topic!

While it doesn't hold a candle to the real deal custom, and I've handled them, I still consider it a must have...

Not the last and not the least, Newt Livesay Sandbar Bowie #13

Sadly, I don't have any pics of a Bowie knife.

But, I will say I have been to the ACTUAL spot where the Jim Bowie dual took place. It was on a sandbar island in the Mississippi river about 10 miles from where im sitting. They had the dual on the sandbar to avoid any law enforcement. After the dual was over the groups for both sides of the fight went to Natchez, MS and continued to quarrel. That's when Mr. Bowie introduced his enemies to his 'modified' kitchen knife.

The bar/saloon where the men drank and gambled regularly still stands and ive been there many times myself.

History lesson over. Sorry for the derail. :p

Love looking at Bowie's of all ilk; I have a few, but my favorite is Buck's variation, the 124 Frontiersman. OH

Back in the 1960's I had a nice Puma Bowie with a carbon steel blade. Really nice stag handle scales with lots of great bark. In 1969 I was in a bad car crash when a prize idiot pulled out right in front of me and I t-boned him. They took me off to the ETR in an ambulance and when I checked later, the knife, that had been under the drivers seat, was gone. Tow truck driver denied seeing it, the body shop people claim never to have seen, and it just went missing never to be seen again. I missed that knife for many years.

Here's a fun one. This is from J. Neilson before he even had a J.S. stamp.
