I'm curious. I'd like to get some input on your favorite/most used fixed blade Buck knife. I have done a few searches and found a few favorite blade threads but many entries tend to lean more to the collectible side of things. I totally understand that. I have a few I just like to display and look at. There are some absolutely beautiful knives out there. But what about the ones you use?
I know it's similar to firearms. Different calibers for different hunting/shooting. Rifles/handguns, etc. Hard to choose a "favorite." But I have favoriteS.

This isn't a "choose ONE for the rest of your life" kind of survey. It's more of a "which Buck fixed blade do you grab most often?" or "which one do you find yourself using more than others?"
Full disclosure... I just ordered a 663 Alpha Elite. I had some money I got for Christmas that was burning a hole in my pocket. I went to the Buck website fully intending on buying a 124 since they were back in stock. I'm embarrassed to admit I don't have one... yet. Anyway, I was drawn to the 663 page and thought, I could size blade could become a favorite user, at least for what I spend my time doing. It has a lot of elements I like in a very useful knife.

So while I wait, I thought I would poll those here. Do you have a general favorite fixed blade that you use more often than others? And what do you use it for? I'll start.

I don't do as much hunting as I once did, but I spend a lot of time in the woods around our house, cutting trees and maintaining trails. My wife and I also enjoy camping a few times a year. I almost always have a 110 or 112, but a fixed blade is really handy for other tasks. For the last couple of years that knife has been a 119 Pro. I like the S35v and so far it's never let me down. It looks a little more worn now than it does in this picture I took shortly after I bought it.

But then last year I got the 104 when they quietly offered it in 3v. It's this knife I have used almost exclusively since then. It's been the perfect camp and woods knife (for what I do). I have been impressed with how it holds an edge and when coupled with the 108, it's a perfect combo for a lot of things woods related. I'd like to have two sets. One for the truck and one for my Polaris.

The 104 has definitely become my most reached for - favorite - fixed blade. At this time. The 663 will be my first Magnacut fixed blade and I am interested to see how it will perform. There is very little in the way of reviews on this knife - at least that I can find. Which I find surprising. Will it replace my 104 as my favorite? I guess time will tell.

Do you have a favorite - or favorites? What are they and what do you use them for?

And oh yes, we need pictures.

I have a kitchen drawer full of 100 series knives and a 664. They all have their charms and uses, but I reach for the 104 the most. It isn't even close.

Since I got this 3v, it's replaced my standard 104 in the kitchen on most days. I was really excited to get the Magnacut version, but I haven't actually used it very much. It's great, but I keep telling myself that I should save it for camping. Then I'll forget and bring something else along.

My most used has been a 6" silver creek fillet knife. It was given to me by my parents when I was a teenager and has fileted a lot of salmon, trout, walleye, and pan fish. It has boned out grouse, pheasant, quail, chukar, deer, elk, and pronghorn. The steel is annoyingly soft and it has to be constantly resharpened. It is now retired.

For an all around knife, a 118 is really tough to beat.

Wish I had a 3V 104 or one of the clip point Magnacut 104s.

For edc, it's either a 113 or a few 212's that I have that all have custom leather slip sheaths. I like the 212 size, and the custom sheaths make them a joy to carry. The factory sheath is a joke.

I agree the 104 3v is my favorite camp and outdoors knife. Put it in the S&K leather sheath and you have a nice setup.

There's a 105 s30v that lives on the kitchen island that gets used daily for utility work.

Hunting, it's the 118 and Vanguard combo. Both s30v.👍

Those are the ones I use the most.

The 663 guide is a nice knife, but the leather sheath absolutely sucks. And I won't carry it because of that. You'd be better off carrying it in an old sock. I'd sell it but then someone would hate me.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how many favor the 118. I have an older one I bought at an antique shop a couple years ago and have found it very handy in the kitchen. I can see how they would be a good lightweight hunting/fishing knife. I'm impressed too with how many rely on the 104. I can't say I fault that decision.

My first action after buying the 104 was to order a sheath from a sheath maker I've used before off of Etsy. It wasn't terribly expensive and made a world of difference.

Sounds like a well rounded collection of users. The 118 and Vanguard sounds like a good pair for hunting. I'm hoping I have a sheath at home that will fit the 663 when it gets here. I'm not a huge fan of kydex but I've never handled one from Buck. I had hoped the OEM leather sheath was a good option. I was going to see if I could order one if the kydex didn't work out.

What a great pair of 104s! It's nice to see a well used 3v 104. I got mine from the same run as yours. I deeply regret missing the Magnacut clip point offering. I'd love one with stag scales!

You really need to use that one. For something. Anything!

I modified the handles on my 104’s a bit and couldn’t be happier. I missed the Thug when it was in production and then searched forever to finally get my hands on one. It’s by far my favorite knife in that size range.
I missed the Thug too. It was one of those, "I'll buy it one of these days..." kind of things. And then it was gone. Maybe one of these days I'll find another one.

BTW, nice subtle change to the handles.

With so many Buck fixed blade models it’s really hard for me to choose! I really like my 212. This one is in D2 steel with dark burgundy handle. Kind of hard to tell the handle color in this picture. And a nice custom sheath by MTL.

Nice! I only have one Buck in D2. A 117. So far not a bad knife. I really like that sheath.
