Favorite Catfish Bait?

Cut bluegill worked best for me. It stays on the hook and also quite easy to get off and replace once it loses its "flavor." I can catch at least 1 bluegill/minute at this spot I know so its basically free catfish bait anytime for me.

Been using TV shrimp as of lately. I'm not expert cat fisherman, but even I've experienced good luck with them. Chicken livers are tried and true as well and I've used them with decent success.

Let a pork chop sit out in the heat for a couple of days. Tough enough to stay on the hook and enough stink to bring them in.

chicken livers and bee-jay doughbait for the channel cats

bluegills for the big ones in the rivers

We use cut shad and mussels (if we can find them) Channel cat will bite all day on the mussels!!! In Missouri, however, there is a bag limit of 5(mussels) per man/ per day--so take your kids!!

bluegill all day! had very good results with catalpa worm paste, never can find the real deal around me. Also there are wild persimmon trees on the bank of the lake I live on, blues go apeshit for them!!

I have a list of crazy stuff I've used to catch catfish. The great thing about fishing for them is you can basically find any sort of smelly, bloody stuff you have on hand and use it.

I like animal guts. I've used boar, deer, small mammal, fish and even bird innards as bait. If I have to go out and buy bait then I take stink bait, but you got to find the nastiest most foul smelling stuff to catch a catfish.

You can take other, small bait fish and cut them up. I don't like doing that as I usually only have panfish when it comes to smaller fish, and I like to throw those in the freezer or have family fish fries with them.

In a pinch hotdogs, but I don't think they work as well.

I second hot dogs. Occasionally do some lazy drift juggin', work good enough. Have heard chittlins(raw) are another good one.
