Favorite China-made Buck?

Buck Mayo Cutback. My son got it for $15 and gave it to me for Father's Day. Initially, I carried it to make him feel good. It quickly became my EDC though - it's very well made and it does anything I ask of it.

Me too on the Mayo Cutback, I bought several a while back at Bass Pro for $12.00. I use mine daily and have given a few to friends.

I realy like the Mayo Hilo, the bigger brother of the cutback.
Have got it for about 2 weeks, and I'm planning to write a review about it on the forum someday, but haven't had the chance/time yet.

This has been educational.

That Redbone is a beautiful knife.....I don't suppose they're available anymore.

The Mayos sound like they must be a little ahead of the pack, considering all the good comments.

I had a wood-handled trapper that I gave to a friend.....a really excellent and beautiful knife.

I hadn't thought of the Metro in Buffalo horn......glad I asked.

:D:D:D

I alternate carrying the 174 Cutback and the 179 Hilo, depending on which one is currently the sharpest. They clip nicely in my back pocket which makes it wasy to get at them.

But you have to watch out for the clip screws loosening up, and the blade pivot loosening some with heavy use. A little blue locktite on the clip screws seem to have stopped them from coming loose. I just snug the blade pivot down some every great once in a while.

Both have been good users.

I have a black X-Tract I received as a gift... preserving my "I won't buy a PRC-made Buck!" dictum. It is kind of neat - a bit more refined than my old USA Leatherman/Gerber multitools. If one of my sons don't talk me out of it, it may go in my Jeep's console.

I like the Diamondback, mine was made in Taiwan but I think current production is from China.

It's hard for me to justify buying a more expensive Chinese Buck when I can get a 110 from Wally World for $26.88.

You're right. I checked mine last night and the smaller Diamondback is made in Taiwan. The larger 4.25" Diamondback is made in China. My mistake.

I think both models are discontinued now. I ordered another small one just to have a back-up.

When I bought my .17 HMR at Bass Pro they had a pile of Buck Pilot for sale at $15 a piece. I picked one up and edc it for several months, very well built knife. I was impressed for the price I paid. I only stopped carrying it because I wanted something new, it’s still a great knife:thumbup:

Another vote for 174 mayo Cutback. I bought my 1st one for $26 now you can get the for $12. Best made in china knife you can buy. The Spyderco Byrds are a close 2nd.

My favorite China made Buck ? HMMMMMMM........Oh yeah! The one I refuse to buy. Sorry, I only buy American.

Sorry smitty. All I paid was $5 shipping on two free Buck knives. For that price, they could be made by oompa-loopa's wearing baby harp seal slippers. I don't think any one could blame me for cashing in on that deal.

Besides, I'm doing my part to keep the thousands of Americans that work at UPS and Cabelas employed. :p

The only China Buck I own is the new multitool.....I was ????? when I seen the made in china sticker..........Its still a Buck.........

I have a Taiwan Diamondback that's pretty nice.

No China Bucks here.

The wood handled Muskrat is my favorite Chinese made Buck. I'm going to order the redbone one as well.
