First and foremost, want to give a shoutout to Cold Steel for producing some wicked blades for an "ok" price. Alright everybody, whats your favorite Cold Steel fixed blade and WHY?

Please take the time to browse our list of forums. Tech Support is for questions about Bladeforums procedure and policy.

Knife questions generally go in General Knife Discussion, where I'm moving this.

CS Master Hunter in carbon V. This is the knife I had on me when I became VERY lost on a dayhike in the Olympics in the mid- nineties. Thru lackadaisical preparation and some navigating misjudgment, an 8 miler turned into a 17 miler. We did walk out before dark, but I remember tapping the kraton handle of that knife on my belt thinking I was going to be spending the night out there and it was about all I had on me besides a water bottle. It was my do everything camp knife as well.

My San Mai III Trailmaster Bowie because it's a Beast!!!! If you could only carry one knife, This would be a good choice.

Good Lord! That is a beast. Did you do the wrappings on your sheath, cuhz thats some beautiful work bro.

Thank you!!
Yes I did the wrapping and the lanyards and the key fob as well.
The wrapping on the sheath is just Black 550 8 Strand Paracord in a Cobra Knot
pattern same as the lanyards and the Key fob is called a Box knot I believe.

Mountain Wildman.. is that daisy-chains I see coming off of the end of the sheath? If so, that's pretty smart.

And to stay on topic: Master Tanto in VG1 SM3 has the best balance of any fixed blade I have ever felt

I've held the SM3 Master Tanto at the CS yard sale, man that thing was a pretty wicked blade. That pommel was no joke either, good call bro.

SRK Carbon V for me. It's one of the best fixed blades I've owned. Great balance and REALLY TOUGH. Also holds an edge better than most.

Got a San mai Master Hunter a while ago. I'd pick that as my favorite. I wish I bought the Carbon 5 one years ago but this one's a pretty awesome knife for under $100.

Next would be my SRK , then my Pendleton Hunter.

Probably the CS SRK or MH. My SwampRat M9 trumps them all though.

Just the way I tied the loose ends so they were not hanging long off the end of the sheath.

Cold steel Bush Ranger in Carbon V. I bought it several years ago from a member in Canada, IIRC.

- Good grip design with Kraton, which works well for a knife of this design, and works well with either gloves or bare-handed.
- Great blade grind: high & flat, and takes an amazing edge.
- Wicked good steel.

Too bad they discontinued this design.

Original Master Tanto with the brass fittings.
It's what started me on the path of quality knives :)
It's also the one which has been through the most use, abuse, sharpenings and refinishings.
Without the original Master Tanto, no one would give a flying crap about Cold Steel at all.
