Favorite combat knife by custom maker? Got my Dawson Scorpion in finally!

my first choice would be a riot lance from american kami. if i'm ever in combat and need a blade i figure something has gone horribly horribly awry and i need all the reach i can get with a blade.

for the typical "combat" knife i'd go with a persian bowie from mineral mountain.

Dunno if Hattori is a custom maker or not???..but heres my new fighter anyway....its Seki-Japan made
outa MVS-8.....beautiful balance....(my new pig sticker)....FES

Met John Roy of Dawson Knives at the gun show a few weeks ago, and the Dawson knives he was selling were by far the best fit and finish of any blade I saw there, outside of maybe the CRK and Spartan Blades ones at another shop. Saw this one and couldn't resist, especially because he gave me a great deal on it.

Comes with a nice kydex sheath as well.

Balance is great, right under the guard, and despite its heft, which is fairly considerable thanks to the very thick blade, it moves really well. Good power on slashes and penetrates easily to the guard on a thrust.

What is your most prized fighter? Let's try to avoid posting up Cold Steel Kobun and knives of that ilk, and stick to knives that are really special to you.

YEAH BABY!!!
Barry Dawson is SWEET!!! scored me a nice old tanto a couple of years ago for only 80 bucks, seller had no idea.
Dawson is famous for using 1/4" 440C steel with differential heat treating in the traditional Japanese style with clay.
I remember when Strider was first coming out with his 1/4" thick fixed blades in ats 34 in the mid 90's.
I owned one of those too, but thought they were too simple/straigtht/angular and lacked the classic styling and subtle curvature of Barry's creations.
He's been a famous maker of excellent fighters and classic japanese swords as well, for quite some time. As mentioned before, he's considered an expert in more traditional heat treating methods.
I wish mine had the micarta like yours, but its older, when he was just doing a simple wrap, cant complain.
I've wanted to pick up one like yours too, but things are tight, and you never luck out on low prices like this TWICE!
Can you pic it out in the group photo? - of course you can, its the best one.

Here are a couple of mine that I'm pretty fond of:

By Phillip Patton, a "user" bowie:

Reese Weiland one off fixed bade version of his Nighthawk folder in .160" Ti. I sent it to Jon Mitchell to get the edge carbidized. I'm making a custom MOLLE compatible sheath right now.
