Favorite compression lock

What is everyone’s favorite compression lock Spyderco? I’ve been using the delica again lately but keep picking up my PM2 because of the lock but would like something smaller for carrying. Any thought? The Para 3 lightweight always felt like the blade would open too easily. Maybe it was just mine I got.

I have 3 Para 3s, all excellent and among my favorite knives. The Sliverax is also excellent. On my Caribbean Salt, the compression lock itself is OK but not as smooth as the others and the action is rather stiff. On a Lil Native, the lock is good, but the blade bounces off my fingernail when I close it.

My 23-year-old fully serrated Spyderco police which I used in construction daily until I retired a few years ago. It cut just about everything I needed cut in those days. The blade loosened up a few times being on that little pin though it, but I just put it in a vise and tightened it back up with a little pressure. Too bad Spyderco didn't put a screw type pin in it like the ones being used now a days in most folders. Other than that, well I did chip the tip I guess from cutting some wire one time. I have no complaints and it has stood the test of time thus far. 👍

I have three; PM2, PM3 LW Spy27, and Yojimbo 2. I like them all. None of them have a super strong detent, but none have ever opened in my pocket, and I've had the PM2 since 2014.

Sage 5, Yo2 smooth G-10, most any PM2 (I cannot put them back to place for the life of me, making scale changes a royal pain). Those are probably my favorites, have plenty I like.

G10 Para 3 for a smaller compression lock spydie. Tried the lightweight version and didn't like it much. One drawback for the G10 Para 3 is that the standard clip position isn't great so it pretty much requires an aftermarket deep carry clip to make it carry like it should in the first place.

The only one I own, para 3 with s45vn and an aftermarket DPC and backspacer that I anodized blue. I just bought the flytanium scales from ebay for $40 that I'm trying to figure out a cool ano pattern to apply.

As a lefty, I really appreciate the awesome ease of use on the Smock. As it's more of a modified compression lock, not sure if I'd file it under a true CL. But it's pretty great. Especially after I removed the second detent ball. I also really enjoy the Yojimbo 2 and the Shaman. I know a lot of people didn't like the Shaman since the bit of the choil sticks in the lock relief but it never really bothered me. PM2 is also fantastic. I really just think the CL is one of the greatest locks out there in the folding knife landscape. I imagine Spyderco has the patent on it? Otherwise it would be cool if other manufacturers tried it out.

Hard call but, at the moment, I'm thinking "Tropen."

Because you can open it "quickly" in 3 ways:

1) compression lock flick
2) wave
3) flipper

The compression lock isn't my "favorite" per se*, but if I had to pick one, it would be the standard PM2. It was alright.

* In fact, I don't think I currently own a single knife with it
