Favorite CRKT knife? Do we still love them?

I love the big CRKT Apache Limited Edition. One of the few CRKT knives that is coated instead of bead blast and ATS-34 instead of the softer steels. I think it doesn't get the recognition it deserves but thats just my opinion. Its too bad they discontinued this model.

I heartily agree. I bought one of these for around $40.00 at a gun show. $40.00! I had to buy it. With an ATS-34 blade that was unbelievably sharp, and what I believe was great aesthetics, it was an easy impulse buying decision to make (with zero buyer's remorse).

I just recently traded it to a fellow forumite along with a couple of other knives. If I see another, I'll probably buy that one too.

I wish they would get rid of the beadblast and use aus118 on all their knives.

Have you seen the cost of the aus-118 viele? The cost of each knife would increase, putting crkt into full competiton with spyderco, benchamde and all the other higher end production companies.

My first knife that I owned was a crkt Apache. Its a great knife. The best crkt for hte money is the m-18. You got aus8, alum handles with g-10 inlay, carson flipper, nice recurve blade as well as the little LAWKS feature. A close second would be the m16 combo edge in titanium

I guess beadblast keeps the manufacturing costs down, vis-a-vis satin finishes, mirrored finishes, etc. But, yes, beadblast finishes are a bit long of tooth at this point. I'd even settle for the scratchy look of Spyderco CPM440V, over the blandness of beadblast finishes.

Also, I forgot but what is aus118 the proprietary equivalent of? CPM440V? ATS-34?...

Love my Apache. CRKT is a great poduct for a knife nut on a budget. The small Mirage, in my opinion, just might be the most underrated low cost knife of the last decade.

I have enjoyed all the CRKT's i've owned...Right now I on;y have one: A CRKT Stiff K.I.S.S...and I love it! They are some of the best bang for the buck around.

I'm getting the Ryan "Plan B" ;) and am eyeballin' the Marzitelli

I have the large and small CKFF,large Apache and the Bear Claw and the fixed blade 4" and 7" Komodos(?).I love'em and at a great price.

I HAD a RYAN Model 7 but had to part with it due to fiscal problem(s); I
like also the Marzitelli "prowler"
and Viele "wasp". Scary sharp & good price! ;) Shame on U.S. Customs for that farce about a year ago seizing
those CRKT knives as "switchblades"
when CHICOM made switches make it into the country in droves :(
Go figure.
