Just curious from the knife nuts here, what's the favorite deployment method? I'm partial to a good thumb stud myself, and I have yet to master the Spydie flick. Just curious.

My snap reaction is always flipper, because I love flippers, but my collection is about 50/50 flipper/thumb studs (including a few with both).

Because of weirdo laws, I can't just carry a fixed blade on my belt, concealed or normally, and I can't be bothered to watch the size of a fixed blade, just to get pulled over for it being on my side, when I can just throw whatever folder I like in my pocket and not have to think about length. So that specifically is why Emerson is what I go for when I want something that is reliable like drawing a fixed blade.

Also I have noticed something funny about the wave - Whether it's Spyderco's built-in Emerson, an aftermarket wave like the Fang or PickPocket, or a Demko plate, sweatpants is the best material to wave from.

Honestly, though, I do a lot of two-handed openings and slow cutting. I just like having the option.

Flippers are my favorite. Standard/front opening/assisted or not -- doesn't matter.

Wrist flick is perferred when available, which is not often.

The SpydieFlick using the SpydieHole is something I've never bothered to learn because it requires too much knife "tuning" that I don't want to bother with but I can do a wrist fiick w/any Spyderco w/a comp lock w/o making any adjustments to the knife.

Waved knives would be next but those are mainly SD knives in my collection which see limited use.

ThumbHoles of any kind would be next followed by Nail Nicks which only apply to by Swiss Army knives and a few other slip joints that I own.

Thumbstuds are my least favorite -- intentionally avoid buying them whenever possible -- because I find them awkward to use. It's not that I can't use them, I just don't like using them.

Autos/balis are a special case and cannot be compared directly to those above. Of course, I like them but cannot carry them in my state. So, what does it matter how they open?

You didn't give us the option for more than one method. I've got CRK's, Spyderco's, Shirogorov's and other flippers. I don't have a preference, it all depends on what knife I'm carrying for the day.
Today, I've got a CRK and a MKM
