Greetings,
What are your favorite color(s) for stabilized maple burl? Which colors sell the best? Any selling advantage of single dye over double dye?

Regards,

Dennis

What I like to see is various colors of blue/green/purple. I recently got a piece that's dyed yellow and green. Its a very cool look. On the other hand I have some red and blue that I'm not so fond of. But this is all my taste.

At first I thought of myself as a purist and insisted on only natural colored woods.
Then a few years ago I tried having some maple burl dyed.
Since dyed burl may resist the dye in some areas it can still maintain a random natural look that works for me.
Blue was a color that was surprisingly popular. Same with green.
Black, brown and orange are colors that have been very popular.
The only colors I really did not like were red and purple.

I picked up an orange-dyed maple burl block months ago from Mark. Still haven't used it yet, but it is really nice and I'll likely use it on the batch I'm currently working on. I would describe it more as an amber/golden color and it has a nice "natural" look to it. I kind of wish he would run more of it (hint, hint). As for the other colors, they're not really my thing as far as my own taste goes. I'm sure I'll use some of them at some point though, as some customers really like them.

Green and blue for me. Especially green. I might need to hit you up for some of that next time you have some available, Mark.
