Hi all, I was looking to get a new edc knife and have a budget of about $100(might be able to go up depending on the knife) and was looking for suggestions.

What I like in an EDC blade:
1.) Can have a full grip on handle with large-ish hands.
2.) Decent blade steel
3.) Good slicer
4.) Fits in pocket nicely

What I don't like:
1.) Black coated blades
2.) Blades that make the general public think you're going to stab someone when you pull it out
3.) Blades that rust easily
4.) Horrible pocket clips
5.) Noticeable amount of bladeplay
6.) Knife made by companies with bad warranties/buisness ethics
7.) Spring assisted knives

Doesn't Matter Much:
1.) Weight

Knives I have that alot of people might suggest:
1.)Spyderco Paramilitary 2
2.)Spyderco Manix 2
3.)Benchmade Griptilian

Thanks all in advance for the help, hoping to find a perfect EDC!

Maybe you should take a look at the Kershaw Speedform. If I had the $$$ that would definitely be my next purchase.

Spyderco Manix 2

Spyderco Endura/Delica

Kershaw JYD II

Kershaw Zing

Buck CSAR-T

Cold Steel American Lawman

Cold Steel Voyager series

Cold Steel Recons

The PM2 is one of the best choices in that price area. If you're willing to go up a bit more, the Military and Gayle Bradley are some other excellent choices.

The blur is spring assisted, right? I forgot to mention I tend to stay away from spring assisted knives for legality reasons.

What's wrong with knives that rust easy. I know plenty of folks who won't buy a knife if it's not carbon steel. You should give it a second chance.

I don't mind carbon steel blades, I meant to say I don't like finishes that attract rust on a stainless steel(beadblasting mostly).

If speed assist is out I throw my vote to a ColdSteel recon1. It's big but it carry's great and has a very nice look if you clean it up a bit. I took the black off of the blade, spine, clip and the spacer.

As nice as those knives may seem to us, they will almost always conflict with your #2 under "What I don't like"

People have accused me of being a (murderer, punk, serial killer, special forces wannabe weirdo etc) for a carrying a Case Peanut. Ever seen a Case peanut? -pardon my language but: Its a %$#&ing 2 7/8" long knife. Most knives people carry on these forums have locking mechanisms longer than that. I hardly consider it a knife but i love it anyway. It's my favorite edc if not my favorite knife period.

I don't know where i'm going with this but i suggest you forget about not scaring people. You will.

As for best edc, in my opinion, the best one is the one you like, as boring and unwanted an answer as it is. We can talk about how grinds and angles make such a big difference but carry the knife you like. Its like "the perfect wife", different for every man but does it even exist at all?

One last thing, don't even bother to pick one, you'll carry at least 3.

Pretty much any knife that opens quickly, whether assisted, auto or just a manual with a thumbstud or Spyder-hole is going to intimidate some non-knife people. I always carry a SAK as well, as those are typically viewed as "reasonable" by the non-knife public.

For ~$100 I suggest the Sage 1. The going rate is >$100, but I bought mine used and excellent for less. I'm also a huge Endura 4 fan, and those are well under $100. I love the Zulu as well, and it's around $100.

Try a Buck Vantage Pro. It fits my hand great, and I wear L-XL gloves. Great steel, great warranty, great pocket clip, fits in pocket, good grip, and "cuts the cheese" with ease.

You might be able to get a good used Benchmade 710 or 943 for around $100.00? I got a 710 new for $115.00 not too long ago.

Check out the following - they meet your criteria:
SOG Vulcan (Large Folder)
SOG Vulcan (Small Folder) - nobody will be afraid of you stabbing them at this size as you mentioned
Buck Vantage / Vantage Pro (Many to choose from)
Spyderco Stretch

I'm really digging my Cara 2's. Better lockup than my Delica 4 or any of my Endura 4's, better ergonomics for my big hand ("ergonomic handles" only work for, what, half of the knife people population), cheaper,...
