Favorite EDCs

Very nice list! I've thought about weeding down the pile a little but now have my eye on the new Schatt & Morgan Heritage series as well as the new GEC Dogleg Jack spear in ebony.

Lately this one has made me forget my other slip joints. I'm definitely a fan of ebony wood now. Back pocket, front pocket, it doesn't matter, it rides comfortably either way.

. . . I've carried high end one hand opening knives for years but this traditional thing is rather addicting!!

I am in the same boat. These slipjoints are just too addictive for me at the moment. I have a struggle each day as well. Lately this one has been winning out most of the time.

These are close in the running.

Hey there Ed, what and whos ( maker) is the bottom knife?

That's the peanut I won in Vince's give away a while back. It was made for Sears (Craftsman). I'd put my money on Camillus, but might have been Schrade. It is a sweet little knife. I've bought three more peanuts since then trying to find one I like as well as that one. The Case one comes pretty close, but there is something about that one that I just really like.

I think it is Camillus, also, Ed but it could also be Ulster. It is not Schrade. Can I have it?

I use a spyderco spyderpac tha hangs behing the door

I have over-thought the EDC rotation. I break down my knives into four categories:

1. 3 1/8 - 3 3/8". These are my weekday, urban, professional knives. They open letters and packages and disappear into casual business and dress slacks.

2. 3 1/2 - 3 5/8". These are knives that see the most real use. I am particularly fond of slim single-blade trappers and Wharnie Trappers.

3. 3 3/4 - 3 7/8". These are all slim, single-blade trappers. If I have on hiking or wading boots, one of these knives is likely to be in pocket. Perfect for food prep, hiking & backpacking, fly fishing, etc. Interestingly, all three knives in this category are single-blade, 1095 knives.

4. Misc. A sodbuster Jr. and a hawkbill pruner have replaced the modern knife in my gardening tote, SAK Spartan in the picnic basket, a Falkniven deer knife, etc.

I am not planning on becoming a collector, all my knives will earn patina. I am happy with the number of knives that I have. I am on a few custom makers' lists and I will probably adopt a one in, one out rule.

I like the fact that you have obviously figured out what works for you (I'm still working on it but close) and how each knife is suited to purpose.

I ended up with some good deals on the Schrades but have put the brakes on buying any more for a little while. I am finding a few that stand out that I am gravitating towards. I've carried high end one hand opening knives for years but this traditional thing is rather addicting!!

You have a great collection started there. As for the addiction, this is not the place to come for therapy. There is no help for that here! :D

Really nice bunch of knives. - Ed

Well, til now I only own this ones

Hartkopf (unknown Modell)
Case Trapper Red Bone CV
Case Mini Trapper SS
Rough Rider Congress Orange Smooth Bone

Thats´s all til now, but a Case Sodbuster CV Yellow Synthetic and a Case Medium Stockman CV Chestnut Bone are already ordered...

Really an addiction, I´m already looking for the therapy...

Kind regards

Nice collection, there!

I've been reaching for my Case CV amber bone medium stockman more often than not for EDC. It's usually a toss-up between that, or my Case SS stag scales slightly larger medium stockman and the Case blue bone large stockman (also SS).

Of course there's the no.6 Opinel on the way in the post, so maybe that can work into the rotation as well...

My EDC's were getting smaller since I got promoted at work and left the factory floor for the offices upstairs. I learned that I'd rather get my hands dirty earning a living so I'm headed back to the shop floor in two weeks. That being said, the swayback jack, Hen and Rooster sockman and the small texas jack will give way to the G10 moose for a while. Feeling the need for something a little beefier for cutting straps, poly, cardboard and working around steel in general.

I only have 1 traditional I edc daily: scagel fruitport. It isn't a fancy knife but I really enjoy it. I really want to have a companion that I have carried for years. Although I thought I'd enjoy a knife rotation, I have found that it takes the joy out for me. I'm working my collection down all the time. I hope to have down to around 5 users :)

At work I edc either a GEC #25 barlow or a Case Peanut, both of which do quite well in dress pants. I still have not tried a Swayback Jack.

I am making an attempt at reducing the EDC choices by giving some of the ones I don't use much. Since I started this thread I have ordered a GEC dogleg ebony spear point and also picked up a Case/Bose Muskrat. I am finding a few patterns that really speak to me that I find I carry most of the time now.

What is that model that you have three of, one with a blue handle, one with black and one reddish?
