What are ya'lls favorite factory built ar-15's? It can be gas impingement or piston driven, you don't even had to have owned one. Just state why you like it and what it is.

In my personal experience, lwrc makes the nicest piston driven ar's while noveske makes some incredibly nice g.i. ar's. I have a m&p-15 and a custom that I built, but have shot both lwrc and noveske rifles. I do have a noveske barrel in my custom tho.

Thanks,

Specifically for hunting?

The various Stag models are solid rigs. I just finished my own scratch built in 6.8spcII. I used a mix of stuff, but have AeroPrecision receivers. The important bits are 24" stainless bull barrel (chamber throat reamed by me), LMT enhanced bolt, Luth-AR MBA stock, AP Customs handguard.

My Ruger SR556 FB. I like the gas piston system as it keeps the rifle running cleaner longer and I like the chrome lined barrel. Flip up sites are my preference, too. The rifle is dead on accurate and is made with high quality components. Plus it looks damned good. What's not to like?

If price werent an object, KAC, LaRue, and Noveske would be 3 of my top choices.

Anyone with a black rain? They look too flashy tho.

I will say, the s&w mp-15 is an incredible rifle for the price it is.

Turnbull has got to be my favorite AR to look at, it's no tack driver but is plenty accurate.

Black Rain makes a nice rifle. IMO you don't need to spend alot to get alot now a days...but they are nice and I certantly wouldn't turn 1 down. I would put them over your standard factory AR.

If you want a top notch rifle you can bet your life on w/o spending $2000 I pick Daniel Defense or Bravo Company. Palmetto State Armory for a quality budget rifle also.

My 3rd and only AR is a Bravo Company Mod-0 16" Mid length. It shoots rings around my 2 previous ARs. For about $1000 it's hard to beat.
The only improvement I did was install a POF trigger.

BTW, this is the model that shot 25,000 rounds without cleaning. Google Filthy 14

Guns Magazine has an article about a 10,000 round torture test of a Battle Rifle Co. AR. They put 10K rounds through it in one day, but they cheated and cleaned it at 5K.

I have a LMT MRP piston and it's a great rifle. It runs clean and I can put 500 rounds through it and just pull the bolt carrier group out and wipe it down. I'll be honest though, I haven't taken my AR's, AR10, and other toys out like I used too after ammo prices skyrocketed. If I take them out to the range I usually only shoot 100 rounds and clean them afterwards. Not like the good ole days of .10 a round .223 or 5.56 ammo. Hence, I'm on the blade forum and collecting knives over buying more guns. Don't get me wrong, I have a ways to go to have as many knives as I do firearms:)

Dollar for dollar this get the job done at $699.99 when in stock. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/colt-ar-15-5-56nato-16-carbine-pencil-barrel.html Throw a 15" BCM KMR on it with a set of Kac Micro's and you are in LW Heaven. I also run one of these for a soft smooth shooter. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-...HT-KeyMod-KMR15-p/bcm-urg-mid-16elw-kmr15.htm Both are highly recommened by Bludgeon.:D

Threads like this usually come down to brand loyalty. I have nothing against Colt, but there are better guns on the market. (Say that about their 1911s and )
IMHO, any AR built by a reputable company using top quality parts and assembled by employees who know what they are doing and take pride in their work is
going to be good. If you just want something that will go bang, S&W and a few others will probably be just fine, but if you want real reliability and good accuracy,
it pays to spend a little more. I paid a bit less than $1000 for my BCM. I have a friend who has a Spikes that has 1000s of rounds through it and has never failed.
So, you pays your money and takes your choice.

I would not buy a $600 AR. You may get an OK one, but it's a real crap shoot. Quality control costs money.

One thing that I forgot to mention is the trigger. Unless the specs of the rifle you are looking at specifically says what kind of trigger is installed, expect it to suck.
I have seen $2100 ARs with $20 military triggers. My BCM trigger had 8 steps. No kidding. I was going to put a Geissele trigger in it, but I got a very good deal
on a POF. It makes all the difference in the world. So, when you price a rifle, be sure to add something for a new trigger.

Les Baer, for instance, puts Geissele triggers in all their rifles. Of course, you pay for it. ;)

US Soldiers qualify and win battles with the GI Trigger, practice is the key.
