Who's your favorite female knifemaker (that is, whose knives do you prefer - let's keep this focused on knives... :) )

For me, it would be Harumi Hirayama. Love her stuff....

Audra Draper makes some really great knives. She apprenticed under Ed Fowler, and it shows.

I would have to go with two friends. Audra and Dellana.
I love Harumi Hirayama's work and have heard nothing but good about her as a person, just have not been lucky enough to meet her yet.

Hmmmm....

Well, I only know two personally... Audra Draper and Lynn Dawson...
Two different schools of knifemaking... And two incredibly nice people!
Audra was my first commissioned MS knife, and I picked up one of Lynn's pieces at Blade West two years ago...

So, I guess those are my two favorite female knife makers... :D

Kathleen Tomey is another to check out. She has crafted some very fine knives!! I'm real fond of Dellana, she was very kind to me at Blade a few years back and let me fondle some gorgeous pieces.
Stay Safe,
Clyde

Hey guys,
Y'all are forgetting that cute Yankee bladesmith, Lora Sue Bethke from Michigan.
She does some really clean Scagel styles. Lora is a really sweet lady to boot. You will usually see her at shows with Dr. Lucie, who was Scagel's physician and now unofficial historian.

I really like Harumi Hirayama's work, but Carolyn Tinker is the one that impressed me the most.
Unfortunately, she passed away a few years ago. :(

Junko Fong from the LA area is one of those rising stars that need to be watched.

My vote goes to Audra. I've know her for a long time, and in the whole time I've known her...with all the hard times she's been through, she has remained as nice a person as you will ever meet. As if that isn't enough, she has a vast amount of knowledge and skills where knives are concerned, and has the capability to create just about anything anyone could want.

Meet her? I can't even find a website or a dealer where I can see some of her knives! Love those kitty kats!

...Heather Harvey. She is our second female ABS mastersmith and her work is VERY appealing.

My closest alliance would be to Dellana. She IS a sweetheart and does fantastic work, as you already know.

Thanks, Mike - I have that page. But there's no contact info, no pricing info, no dealer info, etc.

(Reminds me of a Yellow Pages ad that a "celebrity" limo company here in town used to have. An 1/8-page ad with only the name of the company and the quote, "If we don't know you - don't call."

How does one get to her to discuss a possible order? Which dealer offers her wares?

Ahhh, the carefree life of the poet. :(

Check with Dave Ellis. He just purchased several of her knives(not for sale), and he can tell you which dealer he got them from.
This link is his knifemaking site. He's got a dealership too, but I don't have that info.

Edited to add; I just found his dealer site.
