Can you tell more about the third one? Googling "SET" and the results are sets of knives. This knive is very appealing to me, and by a big margin compared to the others. Thanks.

SET - Sargent Edged Tools. Maker out of Southern California. Small batches made usually about 5-10 knives each time. You can find SET on Instagram. Brian Sargent - extremely talented craftsman with knives and sheaths

The model you mentioned is a M1 Landrunner in saber grind. That particular one is A2 steel with peters heat treatment - undoubtedly my most used and top 3 all time favorite knives in general.

No particular order:

- Fiddleback Forge
- Cohutta
- Malanika
- Been digging Montana Knife Company lately
- Carothers - but I need to find a model that fits my smaller hands a bit better
- TRC
- Mora
- Buck
- Bark river - flame suite activated, but they do have some gems such as the fox river and gunny
- Fallkniven
- Alex Dron
- LT Wright

Those are my current favs that I use a lot.

Despite all the hate, I almost put Bark River in my list but opted not to do so because of their "post COVID" stuff. I have some pre-COVID Trakkers and Squad Leaders that I absolutely LOVE. On those particular knives, the fit & finish is as good as I've seen. However, I bought a few post-COVID Crusaders, and all of them were pretty sloppy. Likewise, my recent Squad Leaders 2s (*that I pre-ordered about five years ago, IIRC) were equally disappointing. It's a shame.

In regard small hands and CPKs, I wear medium-sized gloves. Most of Nathan and Jo's knives feel really great in my hands, including that bruiser, the Super Duty Field Knife (*which is my FAVORITE).

Anyhow, I just scored a Basic Field Knife (*"Basic 5"), during their second-to-last "Friday" drop, that just arrived a couple of days back. I don't know if you're looking for something bush'crafty (*~4" or less) or something in the 5" to 7.5" jack-of-all-trades "field knife" range. If the latter, the BFK seems like it might-could be a great option for you. It's strong, nimble, and even feels a bit small in my hand(s).

Anyhoo, just thought I'd share. Good luck. Happy hunting.

Agreed - I have a few pre-covid knives that have a high level of QC. Have had several since that had some QC issues. Any I order know I order from a trusted seller and have them hand pick for me. I’ve gotten a few nice ones since then including the new Euro Bushcrafter.

I have had an FK2 and a Basic 5. Both were really cool… but I ideally would like a 4” hunting/belt knife with a slightly smaller handle.

Thanks for the tips!

In no particular order, based on Knives I own or have previously owned:

David Mary Custom
Carothers Performance Knives
Navman
Cold Steel
Buck
SYKCO
Spyderco
Dawson Knives (at least their older models)
Marbles (USA)
Western (USA)
Morakniv
Kailash Blades
Thanks Brand

*Edit to add Ian Van Reenen. I bought one of his drop point hunters years ago as my first and most expensive knife at the time from a custom maker. I just don't see much of his work around these days. I had another little fixed of his that I absolutely adored but it was stolen. I'm still sore about it.

Any consolation, I like All of them too........and more

Edit to add:
91bravo 91bravo .
Let me know if you want to borrow my Chopper.
I call it my "No Sizzle" chopper handle design.
It's a prototype, I was experimenting with what the steel can do. It's treated WAY harder than it should be (62HRC) and I Love it! Best chopper I've used.
What are the specs on that blade? It’s a great looking knife!

Of all the brands Ive tried my favorites are:
Becker
Buck
ESEE
Knives by Nuge
Tactical Pterodactyl Knives

The last two make me wish that I would have stayed with the first three bigger production brands. It would have saved me money. It’s hard to go back to production knives after buying from the small batch/custom makers.
