FAVORITE FIXED BLADES (in order)

I only have one fixed blade so I guess it is my favorite! It is a Gerber Yari. I've had some of the Dozier fixed blades and if I ever get another fixed blade it will be a Dozier!

I guess these would be mine (I own them all now):

1. John Greco MST II-5, my newest FB-heavy sucker too :)

2. KA-BAR brand KA-BAR, WWII issue, sentimental favorite no longer used.

3. Camillus KA-BAR pattern. Vietnam era issue I believe, I bought a new style Kydex sheath for it. This is my FB EDC 'abuser'.

4. Old Timer Sharpfinger. No reason, first small FB also an EDC type 'abuser'.

I recently picked up (4)other Greco's but haven't used them yet, so the above may change at some point!

Been carrying my new Bill Burke 7" OAL "pronghorn style" nearly every day since I decided which one to keep. It's about perfect.

Also love the way this little Colorado Cutlery CO-1 fits in my hand, and love the River City custom sheath -- but it rides a little high. Doesn't actually see much use lately.

Blackwood Neck Ninja HD. Again, fits my hand nicely, but at 3 5/8", I just don't dare carry it here in Colorado.

Finally the Dick Patton "Field Unit". Feels like a "Rambo Knife". I've keep trying to find a reason to use it. Love it, just not sure what to do with it...

I own 3 fixed blades currently.

A BK&T Combat/Utility 7 (LOVE IT!)
A Mike Cooper Custom Trail Point Necker with Neck & Belt Sheaths (LOVE IT!!!)
and a Camillus 420HC Arclite (Like it, but it's obviously not as high end as the others, was my first neckie.)

Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but ... am I the only one who includes a kitchen knife in his faves list? C'mon, I know we all use our kitchen knives way more than we use our tacticals and hunters. You owe it to yourself to get yourself at least one kitchen knife that really hums, and see the difference it makes!

Well I have a funyako hocho from knife outlet and the first time I used it was on hard salami. I went through so easily that I thought at first that I had missed.

And it is SO cool looking

In order:

1 - Chris Reeve Nkonka
2 - Benchmade Nimravus

(and fave kitchen knife)
3 - Global G5

I too have been bitten by the Busse bug...

Straight Handled Steel Heart
Straight Handled Badger
Mean Street
A square-ended kitchen knife I inherited (best damn kitchen knife ever.)

1. Marbles Fixed Blades - I have a few of them, and absolutely love every one. Carbon steel and convex edges rule the outdoors. These knives cut like crazy and still hold up to hard abuse. Marbles knives also have an inoffensive traditional styling to them.

2. BlackJack Small - More carbon steel and convex edge. The fit and finish isn't breathtaking, but the utility value is enormous.

3. Busse Satin Jack - This is a great camp knife. It's not too heavy for backpacking trips, and is proving to be rock solid dependable.

4. Camillus Mini-Talon – This is both the smallest fixed blades in my collection, and the scariest one. Talonite cuts like there’s no tomorrow. This knife gets A LOT of use around the house.

1. DeLeon custom Bowie - Dont know why. Dont use it much, but it was my first real custom.

2. Cooper Mighty Mite - Small and compact, but about as sturdy a fixed blade as I have come across.

3. AG Russell camp knife - Nice looks and quality. Handles very nice for a knife of its size.

Not really. Our Henckels have not been used much at all in the last couple of years. I generally use my Cooper customs in the kitchen. They are fairly thick, but have nice high hollow grinds and wicked edges....so slicing anything, even frozen chicken is easy. When seperating chicken or steaks that are frozen together I can pry them apart with them....would never do that with the Henckels. I know that far bettr quality kitchen knives than Henckels are avaliable, but with the Coopers I have never seen the need. Thats just me though....any excuse to use my favorites :)

  1. Dozier Yukon Pro Skinner
  2. Simonich Talonite Cetan
  3. Rinaldi TTTKK
  4. Busse Lean Mean Street

I really love the looks of two other fixed blades and will have to order them soon:
    • Scott Cook Small Owyhee Hunter
    • Neil Blackwood Medium Hunter

    AJ

Joe,

The Murray Carter yanagi ba that I listed is a long kitchen knife. It is made for sushi/sashimi preparation but I've sliced both turkey and roast beef with it (just don't tell Murray!).

1. Satin Jack (if you have one, you know why...if not, try it and you will know)

2. Marbles Bison in 52100...dependable, well made, very traditional looks, gets scary sharp and stays that way a long time.

3. Spyderco 6 1/2" kitchen utility blade...fully serrated in MBS-26...a real workhorse...I could get along in the kitchen with just this one knife.

Busse Steel Heart
Busse Nimrod Special Edition Satin Jack;)
Chris Reeve Project 2
Chris Reeve Sable
Camillus Talon (in Talonite)

Honorable mentions have to include:

Buck Special 119 (also like the 639)

2. Geno Denning Model 6 with sheephorn scales.

3. Mike Snody Overlord Fighter

4. R.J. Martin Kozuka - any model

5. Randall Made Stoddard's Dealer Special

BK&T Bowie (well it looks like a favourite)
Extrema Ratio Harpoon

(i only own the cheap ones)

my favs as follows:

1)gerber mark 11 '68 model, bought it new!!

2) bud nealy pesh kebz 5" M2 steel w/MASS system, just got it but its light/well made/great sheath (unlike the MCS)/and once i get it redone by body cote(powder cote is funky imho), will be my edc over any folder i have (maybe)

3) polkawski companion 4" - a great knife and the CRKT version is good too, kinda heavy though for edc use

4)MOD razorback - ok, but wish it had a full tang, a nice light knife for edc in the winter for me

5) gerber mark 1 - not legal here, but a good 1

6) greco tanto 5.5 - a lot of knife for the $$

7) ontario USAF survival knife - another good one

well those are my favs, also have some bucks/cammilus/livesay of the neck knife variety, but rarely if ever carry them, not around the neck anyway
