You guys need to try a Darrel Ralph custom with Maxx Glide pivot system. I like mine so much that I'm have another on order.

Love my Kershaw and my new ZT0350. But if you want to get on somebody's nerves (like I do my mother in law!) Get a Griptillian. Pull back on the lock and the weight of the blade moves it. A little practice and you'll have that thing singin' like the old "Clackers" we played with in the '70's. Two glass balls held together by a piece of string...suckers would rattle like a machine gun! Talk about nerve-wracking.

get a zt 0566 and customize it. you get the hinderer design, great quality, and you can customize it and make it to your liking for well under $200. I got the zt 0566 blackwashed (around $120) and got custom g10/carbon fiber scales for $40 and a custom blue anodized titanium lockbar stabilizer for $20. I like manual knives so I took out the torsion bar and all in all I couldn't be happier. This is my favorite knife and is everything I was looking for in a custom knife but for an affordable price.

Mr. Pickle is my favorite to play with but he doesn't fold (ouch).
Sooo

ZT's 0801, 0561, 0770CF
Brous Bionic
Spyderco PM2
TSF Beast (soooo smooth)

Out of the 40+ knives I own I would have to say that my favorite knife to flick open again and again and again would be my al mar sere 2000 d/a. Followed by spyderco vallotin which is also a d/a. The sere is so smooth you would think there were some kind of ikbs system especially since its got Teflon washers as opposed to phosphor bronze ones. There are so many choices now you could try out 30 different styles and want them all. Best figure out what suits your other needs as far as materials, design etc n go from there. Good luck n enjoy

Mine would be either my ZT 0801 or the CRKT Fossil. For the money IMO the Fossil is the smoothest flipper around. My wife thinks I'm nuts.

My favorite "flicker" is my Microtech Socom Delta. It has a 4 inch blade, frame lock and a beefy thumb stud to flick.

I personally prefer a knife that has a thumb stud to "flick" with your thumb. The Hinderer has a different system that you have to "flip" with your index finger. To me it doesn't quite seem as much fun...

Microtech Socom Delta's have become "unicorns" as they haven't made it in production for a year or two and are all sold out. Shame on Microtech for not making folders for a couple years..

So I might suggest a Strider with a 4" blade. I know you want a 3" blade, but man I will tell you, (for me) the weight of that extra inch along a thicker blade.. all that extra weight combined with the heavy pressure from the full frame lock make for a satisfying knife that flicks with a solid "ker-thunk".

It is stupid fun! For me anyway.. It's just been my experience and you can do what you like. $500 will get a very nice knife though, anyway you slice it.
