just looking for a light edc knife that has a good pocket clip and a fairly corrosion resistant blade and weighs under 3.5oz. only other concern is a strong tip with maybe a little bit of an upsweep somewhere along the blade's length. suggestions?

It's waaaay under 3", but the Boker Subcom meets those qualifications nicely.

kershaw leek has one of the least strong tips I have ever seen, i returned the one I bought because of this fact

Spyderco Centofante III (Great knife -my favorite)
3.13" blade, VG-10 steel, 2.5oz, $49

Spyderco Delica 4
2.88" Blade, VG-10 steel, 2.5oz, $50

Spyderco Native (S30v Version)
3.13" Blade, S30V Steel, 2.8 oz, $50

P.S. Sypdercos have great clips (For Example - the Centofante III clip holds excellent on my B-Ball shorts)

the beadblast coating that kershaw uses on many of their blades will rust very quickly. i took one with my to the gym once, and after 1 hour i came out and saw the blade had developed tons of rust spots within that very short amount of time from the dampness of my body.

i love the zing, its awesome, but it will rust easily if exposed to moisture.

And you base this comment on what?

14C28N is very corrosion resistant, its a brand new model, and there have been zero reports of it rusting.

Sorry, but it's NOT a rust prone knife.

I'll throw a 3rd Leek recommendation in the mix. The tip is thin, but its fine unless you do something other than cut with your knife. Me personally, I just cut...works fine.

it uses the same bead blast coating though doesnt it? i took a brand new kershaw shallot with me in my pocket to the gym once to lift some weights and the moisture from my body put spots all over the knife in less than an hour. this doesnt happen when i carry a satin finish knife like a spyderco native.

1.) It's not a coating, its a finish, and the finish on the Zing is completely different than a satin Shallot
2.) It's a completely different steel
3.) I sweat like a pig, and I've never had any Kershaw rust on me...the one knife that has rusted on me was a Native (Im not joking)

thats weird. my kershaws with that finish get spots on them for some reason.

either way though, the kershaw zing is one of the best knives ive purchased in a while. i will be buying a second one soon to have as a backup.
