Right now it is Micarta. The stuff is indestructable, has a pretty grain and you don't have to worry about wrecking it. I have some white paper scales I can't wait to use. But, I will actually have produced a CrayolaMade Magic Knot Knife by the end of the summer and I will have Dymond Wood with a Magic Knot so I guess it depends on what I am doing. But I am always fascinated by Micarta...
Nice wood of any kind, and I lean toward oil finishes. Handles finished this way have an "organic" feel to them. It's kinda hard to describe, but some of the synthetics and acrylic polymers while, quite beautiful, seem a little cold. Handles finished with oils and maybe a good wax have a warm feel and may be less slippery.-Guy Thomas
Yep, Magic Knot Knife. That is all I shall say for now. It is a custom collaboration between myself and my girlfriend. Considering that she isn't all that thrilled about knives, she is making the Magic Knots and I am making the knife. I'd probably have something to show by now if it weren't for my grinder needing servicing
I'll be sure to post a pic here when my Magic Knot Knife prototype is done.
Well, call me Mr. plain, but I like using mesquite because it's native to my area. As far as finishing it, I use a product called "fix-it". This stuff really works well on all woods I have tried it on.

I like micarta, carbon fiber, deer antler and some woods. Depends a lot on the blade style and finish and type of tang I reckon.
