I voted for Box Elder, but I'm a victim of a reasoning fallacy called Recency Bias: I just bought a BE Mnandi so it is vivid in my mind :)

I'm actually pretty impressed with the way the Micarta blends into the Ti scales on my Large Sebenza. I like it as well if not better than some wood inlays I've seen. Having said that, I voted for Desert Ironwood. So that should tell you something.

Thought i would bring this one back to the top.

Update after 132 voters have submitted their choices, the top three still remain the same.
  1. Micarta (48 votes)
  2. Mammoth Ivory Bark (41 votes)
  3. Box Elder (30 votes)

If some of the other inlays came on bead blasted knives I'd be in heaven.

Until then, Micarta followed by the carbon fiber inlay for me.

Thought I'd bring this one back, it's been a while. Update after 184 voters have submitted their choices, the top three still remain the same.

  1. Micarta (62 votes)
  2. Mammoth Ivory Bark (56 votes)
  3. Box Elder (41 votes)

Has anyone contacted CRK about supplying their own inlay materials?

I wonder if CRK allows such a thing.

I believe CRK has done this with some dealers in the past. I have a Mnandi with pink ivory wood inlays that was originally sold by Plaza Cutlery. I'm pretty sure, but not positive, that Plaza Cutlery supplied the wood.
Highly doubt CRK would do this on an individual basis though.

Edit: Just found a post from Dan of Plaza Cutlery back in 2006. There was no mention of him supplying the wood but he was able to land all 5 with the pink ivory wood inlays. So, I'm not so sure CRK has ever used customer-supplied wood.

Haven't inquired. But I feel like there were some instances "back in the day." Could be wrong. If they allowed it now I'd send them titanium :) and something else that shows patina. Could be interesting. But that wouldn't happen.

That's right. Plaza had the presentation ironwood offerings too. Grabbed my first Mnandi in presentation ironwood from them, "lost" it in my couch, found it 2 years later when we moved. Almost sold/gave away the couch. Yikes!

SNAKEWOOD!!

My favorite wood overall. I do like other inlays, but I only needed one vote to show my "favorite"

The only CRK I have right now I got second hand to lower the cost. The Snakewood one of my grails, but they don't seem to show up very often on the secondary market.
