Favorite Keychain Folder

The 2/10th of an ounce A. G. Russell Ultimate Pen Knife is what I now have on my key-chain. Smallest and lightest are my criteria for a key-chain knife as it's just a backup for my normal pocket folder, a Mnandi.

Some years ago, before I had the Mnandi, I tried putting an Umfann on my key-chain. I found the Umfann a bit unwieldy when it was attached to my key-chain and it was just easier to carry it lose in the pocket.

Nice, guess if i got a Umfann would carry in my jean coin pocket.
...only CRK would making them again or maybe a beatup used :)

I used to have an LM blue P4 too, just a bit heavy, now sometime carry an Micra(also like the plain SS look more, and scratchs won't show up)

and a black alox SAK classic I haven't start using...but I like the size so far, just not the blade (again, where the AG R pen knife would be nice :)

I pack a Kershaw LFK for this function. Nice blade shape, good steel choice for the application, very lightweight.

SAK Classic. It's lasted for years, still tight, still sharp, gets used almost daily.

thx - cpr

I just swiped my dad's leatherman Micra. Useful size for pocket-chores with the small blade, scissors, tweezer and screwdriver set. Use it several times a day on boxes, loose threads, prying & poking things.

For larger chores, I go to a pocket slippie with larger knife.

I've had a SAK Rambler on my keychain for as long as I can remember; in fact,
I'm getting ready to replace my current one as one of the scales has finally broken off. This will be my third one (lost the first one and the current one has been chugging along for a good ten years or so) and I can't even say how many toothpicks and tweezers I've lost in that amount of time :o (I eventually gave up replacing the toothpicks and I think that's actually the reason this one cracked - the crack started at the empty cutout for the toothpick).

I have a SAK Classic on my key chain also. Mine is black and was generously given to me by someone on this site. Great people we've got here.

I can't tell you how many times that toothpick has come in handy!

Me too!. In fact they are on every family members key chain at my home. That toothpick is used at least several times a week while out on the road myself. And the tweezers comes in kind of handy as well for those confounded little splinters

I used to EDC a SS Jester but don't really like it. I just ordered an orange lady bug and a keycom. Will probably put the LB in the drawer. I have such a hard time using my Spyderco's. *sigh*

There's an advantage to the sak classic that some of you may not have considered. It makes a good low cost give away to the converts among the non-knife people you know.

A few Christmas's ago, I deceided to give all the non-knife people/sheeple in my family a sak classic as a stocking stuffer extra thing. I was a little tired of me and one or two other men being the only knife carrying guy at family get to-gethers, so I had a remedy for the situation. All the women got a classic, even our elderly Aunt Jane.

It was a way bigger hit that I expected it to be. I don't know if it is the sheeple friendly apeal of the classic, or the few handy tools on it, but all the women and the few men who got them, became knife carrying people. Now they wouldn't dream of leaving the house without their classic on thier keyring. Maybe it was the little sissors on them, maybe it was the nailfile or tweezers, maybe it was the red handles with the well known white cross, I don't know. But one thing I do know, ever since I gave them out, I haven't heard one time "Hey, can I borrow your knife?" or "can you cut this open for me?".

Sometimes at gun shows, you can pick up sak clasics for only a few dollars apiece from boxes of TSA confiscated knives. I get them at the gun show at Westminster Maryland where a lady has a big box of them for 3 dollars, or more than three knives for 2.50 apiece. 5 knives are 2.00 dollars. Most are in like new condition once you clean off the dust and dirt from the box. I carry one on my keyring, and when I come across someone needing a knife, I loan them the classic and then tell them to keep it. My theroy is that they will come to see the value of a small sharp knife, and when some screaming idiot starts with the anti knife thing, there will be one more possable convert to our cause to argue our that a sharp pocket knife is a good thing.

I've made alot of converts with a sak classic.

More props for the Ladybug. This one is not the latest flavor though, which has a larger and much improved Spydie hole. Ditto on the Vic Classic - more tools carried in about the same volume as the Ladybug.

There no beating the Leatherman Micra IMO for price, size, utility and build quality. Not to mention razor sharp out of the box. I've a carried one of these little babies on my keychain for about a decade.
