There's an advantage to the sak classic that some of you may not have considered. It makes a good low cost give away to the converts among the non-knife people you know.
A few Christmas's ago, I deceided to give all the non-knife people/sheeple in my family a sak classic as a stocking stuffer extra thing. I was a little tired of me and one or two other men being the only knife carrying guy at family get to-gethers, so I had a remedy for the situation. All the women got a classic, even our elderly Aunt Jane.
It was a way bigger hit that I expected it to be. I don't know if it is the sheeple friendly apeal of the classic, or the few handy tools on it, but all the women and the few men who got them, became knife carrying people. Now they wouldn't dream of leaving the house without their classic on thier keyring. Maybe it was the little sissors on them, maybe it was the nailfile or tweezers, maybe it was the red handles with the well known white cross, I don't know. But one thing I do know, ever since I gave them out, I haven't heard one time "Hey, can I borrow your knife?" or "can you cut this open for me?".
Sometimes at gun shows, you can pick up sak clasics for only a few dollars apiece from boxes of TSA confiscated knives. I get them at the gun show at Westminster Maryland where a lady has a big box of them for 3 dollars, or more than three knives for 2.50 apiece. 5 knives are 2.00 dollars. Most are in like new condition once you clean off the dust and dirt from the box. I carry one on my keyring, and when I come across someone needing a knife, I loan them the classic and then tell them to keep it. My theroy is that they will come to see the value of a small sharp knife, and when some screaming idiot starts with the anti knife thing, there will be one more possable convert to our cause to argue our that a sharp pocket knife is a good thing.
I've made alot of converts with a sak classic.
