Favorite Knife Designers:

My favorites:

Dan/Jerry Busse
Scott Gossman
Andy Roy
Bob Loveless (c'mon)

Most popular production designer currently?

I'd say it's a toss up between Shane Sibert and Ken Onion.
Then again, what do I know?

Judging from the beautiful knives I regularly see on Bladeforums, there are a LOT of talented designers. I'm sure there's loads that don't spring into my ageing head, but for me Bob Loveless is up there at the top. Bill Moran has done some classic work. A.G. Russell. Sal Glesser, done some incredible work. If I dug out my old knife annuals I'm sure that another dozen names, at least, would come to mind. I like Tom Krein's stuff, Chad Los Banos' does some great modern folders, and Jason Vox's lump of chunky goodness. All great stuff. I'll have to think about this one a bit more :)

I like alot of designers and would love to own some of the higher priced customs that they make. BUT to be honest my all time favorite has always been Ken Onion, I love his style. There are so many knives by him I wish I had, if I ever hit the lotto Im going to own like 5 of each of the knives he ever made! LOL. My first real modern pocket knife was a Kershaw Chive, I absolutely loved the shape and cutting ability. At the time I didnt know who he was or even what my knife was called, it was just 'The black Kershaw'. I always wanted a knife just like that little Chive that had the same blade shape, but was bigger. I never found one, because I only bought my knives at Wal Mart or Swap Meets. LOL. A few months ago my wife lost the Kershaw, I have been looking everywhere for it and still havent found it. :( To make things worse I had just got rid of all my knives but that one and a S&W that is Sentimental. So I got online and looked for Kershaw, found the Chive, and Scallion.. but I still wished they made it bigger. I stumbled onto a picture of a ZT 360.SKD, which looked alot like my little Chive, but better! I freaked out and started searching for one to buy.. with no luck. But I ran across a page on here (the very first time I ever found BF) and people were talking about bringing back the 360 and there was a picture of a 360 and 350 showing how they made the 360 and why its better. I fell in love with the 350 and bought one, then two more, and a few other Ken Onion Designs! Ive had to thin out my pack so the only KOs I have left are my 350SW, Speed Bump, (I got rid of my DLC 350s and DLC 200) but my next purchase is a ZT 303!

This turned out to be a bit longer than I originally intended. Hope you enjoy my story.

Walter Brend
Reese Weiland
Tony Marfione

A few off the top of my head:

Joe Flowers, Brian Griffin, Rick Marchand, Andy Roy, A.G. Russell, Ray Laconico.

This was an awesome story!!!

Yeah, I really like the blade shape that Ken Onion came up with on the ZT 300 series, and it doesn't hurt that I like folding pry-bars :P

Also, I think the Blur he designed is one of the best bang for your buck knives (no pun intended) that you can get in S30V!

ALAN DAVIS, Andrew Demko, Rick Hinderer. Those are my top 3. I like several others but I have 7 Alan Davis knives. He will make it the way you want it. :D:D THANKS! Kevin

There are many greath designers of fantastic knives allready mentioned here;
but there is a few more who deserves there name on my list:

Jeremy Horton and why not William Fairbairn / Eric Sykes.

:D

I would tend to say the Glessers, Brad Southard, Ed Schempp, Rick Hinderer, and Yun over at Yuna Knives. In no particular order, of course.

Tim Galyean has impressed me a great deal with his contributions to the world of folders. I can't get enough of the Junkyard Dog and its large, but not overbuilt profile. Also the Turbulence and it's subtle, swayed blade is very pleasing to the eye, but still utilitarian as far as I'm concerned.
