Favorite knife + favorite hobby

Knives are a side hobby of my woodworking hobby...

I started out making a set of 1911 pistol handles and got hooked on figuring out how to carefully machine the very fine details and close tolerances in wood, just using a few benchtop tools. I migrated to making knife handles from there. Pursuing this has kept me stocked with some pretty nice knives along the way, and built some pretty good friendships around this community.

I used to play pool in my teens and 20s. Took 3rd in the dorm challenge freshman year of college. About 6 years ago they closed the last pool hall near me. Bar pool just doesn't do much for me. I feel like an ass bringing my cue to a bar.

Where I live lots of people bring their own cues to bars. I have two friends with Sneaky Petes, high quality two piece cues that look like one piece bar cues.

When the tasks for the day are done, I usually wind down with a good book and a blade always within reach. There aren’t many knife nuts where I live, so it’s nice to have this community for blade talk.

I’d just get strange looks if I showed my knife set to any of my friends lol.

I love to read. Sci-fi, fantasy, and mysteries. Amazon says I've read 29 books so far this year. Yeah, I read kinda fast. Some of those are 1000 page plus epic fantasy.

Currently started reading the Jack Reacher series again. Probably will finish it by October if new fantasy releases don't get in the way.
