hhmoore, is that the ProTech 601 series that you posted pictures of? If you wouldn't mind me asking, how much did you pay? I think I found it, and that seems to be correct for what I'm after. Thank you for any info.

Got a link to where I could purchase one?
If you're truly interested, start with searching the information shown on the blade. The only "Whiskers"/Protech collaborations I've seen in the last few years have been bolster releases.
I picked mine up from some guy named Kevin, out of a shop in Louisville, KY, called One Stop Knife Shop. Love the new place, btw, Kevin:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Non supporting dealer links prohibited on BF- Please don't link to those that don't support BF.
We do have a list of supporting dealers with a range of varying products that you can purchase from.

My bad, good sir. Please do accept my sincerely mammoth apologies for having such a devastating reverse brain cramp which impeded the righteous firing of synapses and the flow of the neural network responsible for such information and control. Thank you for pointing out, so graciously, the error of my egregious ways.

Here is wishing you an absolutely superb afternoon & evening, my good man.

I couldn't have told you before you said it...but it certainly appears to be. To be honest, I'm not sure how much I paid for it...but it WAS at least 5 yrs ago (more likely 6 or 7, now that I think about it), and I did get a bit of a discount as we bought a few knives that day. I may actually still have the box for it...if so, I'll post up anything it shows that might help.

**Edited to add: Yup, the box confirms it.

Thanks. That's what I found on one of the websites. There's a few variations of the 601 series, all $300. When I say variations I mean visual differences like blade or handle color, no physical difference. Looks like I know what I'm buying right now while my baby's asleep and mama is out at the grocery store, lol!

What's that old saying... It's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission

Just remember, that wife of yours is "super badass" and "scoured" the house to find the one you thought you lost! You might wait to order a new one and consider ordering something you know that SHE would appreciate first, right? Just sayin' ... er, typin'

Well my friend... just got off the phone with Pro-Tech. They discontinued all of the Scale Release designs a while back... "but [they'll] be glad to sell a Bolster, which is the newest design"... dangit! The search continues.

She's got presents coming from Amazon. I make sure to pay attention when she says something she likes, take note, and usually have it on the way via Amazon within a week or so. It makes it easier to forgive me when I buy stuff like this

MMMhhhm.

I reckon.

PS - just trying to keep some humor in our day. Was hoping you would take it in that spirit.

The video is from a website called usknife.com You might try contacting them directly... but the knife may be garbage.

I googled 'mike allen scale release auto' and got a hit from americanedgeknives.com that indicates one of the "whisker" knives available.

Third, there is a S&W-branded knife called the "Smith & Wesson Twist" that is a scale release auto:

I found a place that makes the same knife I have. I bought 3. I should be good for 30 years, right, lol!

Now I want to sell my Benchmade Infidel. I can't post it on this site because I'm just a regular member. Is it allowed to ask for advice on good places to post it?

Buy a membership and post it here! Word on the street is that BF is the best place to buy or sell a used knife. I'm serious.

I'm sure this would be a great place to sell it. Surely there's more people on this forum who appreciate quality knives than the diverse community of Craigslist or Facebook. With that said, I posted it to FB and it sold the same day.

I belong to A LOT of forums, and I understand that every forum has its rules, and forums stay online through vendor contributions, but I've never seen a forum that made your "average joe" user pay for a membership in order to post something to the classified section. I've seen minimum post requirements, like requiring that a member has 50 or 100 posts before they have access to the classified section, and I can understand that too, you wanna weed out the "drive-by seller" looking to post their crap all over the Internet.

To me forums are a place where like minded people come together to share knowledge, ask questions, or just BS about whatever. Vendors come to forums to advertise their products, which they sell AS A BUSINESS... FOR A LIVING. Sure, in that instance I agree that for the publicity they should help fund the forum.

I wasn't talking about selling knives (plural), and it certainly isn't my livelihood. I think it's ridiculous that even a paid "Basic" member you can't make sale posts. The benefits listed on each membership are all standard features on EVERY other forum I belong to. There are a few that have perks like getting a T-shirt, stickers, and discounts for a very minimal charge, but to pay even $10 just to have the ability to send a private message?! That's ridiculous. Sorry guys/gals, I'm just saying my peace.

N NickPohlAandP I also see few forums with a subscription in general but rarely do any have an active classifieds section if at all and most as also have far more advertising on them too with one exception which is an exclusive forum for professional IT people that operates though users contributing to content and through sales of various IT business related packages and shows. I believe that one the owner even lets vendors participate for free might whisper to him about having paid vendor memberships.
