I read the magazines because I enjoy quite a few of the regular articles included in them and because I get to see pictures of knives that I never see anywhere else. I have also learned a tremendous amounts about materials used to make knives and how they are made. I do not look for perfection in these magazines. The politics of the magazine publishing world make it next to impossible to put out a product that does not pander to the advertisers that pay to keep the magazine going. So I just take what I consider useful from them, and disregard the rest.

As someone who spends "Ad Dollars", I find this thread/poll very interesting. Not just the poll numbers, but the comments about the various mags. they all have their place[strenghts], but its interesting which mag caters to which type of customer[as opposed to what they THINK they do].

My favourite is Tactical Knives hands down. The reason why I like it over the others is because of the "real life" reviews of knives, self-defence articles and tips on knife care. I only wish the issues went out monthly.

Blade is okay, but I find most of their issues replete with what the latest trends are and not enough reviews on how the knives perform. While it's nice to see company/knifemaker profiles; Best buys under $100; New knife releases and all, I'd like to see more honest reviews on how the knives featured actually perform.

I'll pick up an issue of Knives Illustrated here and there if it has an interesting article. Again, not enough real life reviews and it's too "artsy" for my taste.
